Too much to give up for ROR, and when Jets have Scheifele/Little/Lowry at C it's tough to fit ROR there anyways.

Trading for ROR would destroy our cap situation haha. Would be awesome to have Scheif/ROR as our top two C's but we need cheaper players going forward.

Roslovic and Vesalainen are our two best prospects. Samberg is probably not far from top 5. When was the last time a team traded 3 of their top 5 prospects for a 60 point player?

We'll try to re-sign Stastny, if not we can just roll Little as the 2C. That won't cost us our future.

Not sure if trolling, but the regular misspelling of the team name seems like it.

How is Winnipeg supposed to make this work within the cap?

He is a selke finalist not just a 60 point centerman. The narrative that because Buffalo is bad so he is bad is lazy and ridiculous. He played on team Canada. While those are the best prospects on the jets none of them are top tier and the jets already have a young team. Nylander also is better than anything the jets are giving up individually.

Ya nylander 27 points in 51 games in the AHL is miles ahead of roslovics 35 points in 32 games. What rock have you been hiding under?

I never said he was bad. I said he's a 60 point C, which he is. He's got a 7.5 million cap hit. Bringing in ROR means Myers, Perreault and likely Little would all need to be gone in the next year or two. We have Morrissey, Helle and Trouba as big RFA's this year, and Laine and Connor next year. Those three + Roslovic and Vesalainen > a great two way 60 point C.

On top of that we lose our two best F prospects, and our second or third best D prospect, and we don't have a 1st rounder this year. Our core is young, we don't need to be gutting our future to win next year.

Also, Nylander doesn't compare to either Roslovic or Vesalainen currently. They're both better prospects, and considering Roslovic still counts as a prospect on hfboards, they'd both likely be top 30 prospects in an NHL affiliated poll.

ROR is an excellent player, signed only until 32 so all throughout his prime and maybe a year or 2 into his decline and reasonable cap hit (imo he gets 7.5M on UFA market). Sabres should expect quite a good haul from him. The Jets wont be on of those teams though. Not that the Jets can't use him, but the cost of acquiring him outweigh the benefits from a Jets POV imo. 7.5M will be tough to absorb with increases to Laine, JoMo, Helle and Trouba (along w/ Connor and Wheeler a year from now) then add on top of that losing 3 of the Jets' top 5 prospects, it is a tough deal to stomach

The doghouse
It’s a fair trade, both teams say no though.

Nylander for the 2nd, and ROR for three very good prospects. That’s not outrageous, so either fan base acting like the value is way off is being a homer.

Vesalainen + Roslovic + Samberg + 2nd round pick

For

ROR + Nylander

Its a pretty good deal. Jets get a #2 C behind Scheifele and a solid prospect in exchange for some solid prospects that can grow with Eichel, Dahlin, Middlestadt, Reinhart, Ristolainen.

ROR good player, but he’s not worth our best prospects and restructuring our team for to fit that massive cap hit into. Not to mention that contract is buy out proof and lock out proof which is bad. Jets pass easy

he isn't a selke finalist at all. where did you get that idea from?

****ing lol @ the prospect hugging ITT.
Jets traded Kane to the Sabres for a bunch of prospects / picks (Armia, Lemieux, Roslovic). Jets fans are hugging those prospects now. Meanwhile, the Sabres are hoping that the late 1st round pick next year (that they received for Kane from the Sharks) turns into something decent and perhaps wondering how they can build some depth in the organization by trading a core vet.

Teams that don't value their top prospects are soon in the trash bin.

No one is saying ROR is bad just because he plays on Buffalo, the narrative here is that ROR is overvalued in trade requests and that this proposal is an overpayment for ROR and f***ing Alex Nylander. Stop throwing a fit just because the consenus agrees that this trade does nothing for the Jets and only hinders them while benefiting Buffalo.

Why would the Jets trade prospects for a 7.5 mill center when we could keep those prospects and sign statsny for the same money or even less? Does no one think when they make these proposals.

the jets would do that because they get a great two way center who is in his prime that is signed to a good contract instead of a past-his-prime two way center that is worse. think before you post
