JETS (8-9-1) at RANGERS (8-7-2)

TV: RDS, TSN, MSG

Last 10: Winnipeg 5-5-0; New York 5-3-2

Season series: This is the first of three meetings.

Big story: The Jets are looking to close what has been a very positive five-game road trip that
has seen them win three of four games. The Rangers are starting a four-game homestand as losers
of three straight and four of five.

Team scope:

Jets: There's good and bad to take out of Winnipeg's 4-2 win against the New Jersey Devils on
Sunday afternoon. First the good: trailing by a goal, the Jets scored three straight to beat one
of the East's top teams. The bad: Defenseman Dustin Byfuglien and forward Antti Miettinen left
the game with injuries, and their status for Tuesday's game against the Rangers is unknown.

"It's not easy to win on the road in this League. You've gotta play a simple game and guys have
to step up," said captain Andrew Ladd, who scored his team-leading 10th goal in the win. "It's
been nice so far. We've got another one to go and we'd sure like to finish it off with a win."

Rangers: Injuries abound in New York, but it's not enough to completely explain the Rangers'
recent slump. Rick Nash has missed three games with an injury the Rangers refuse to reveal, and
the offense continued to suffer in a 3-0 loss to the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday.

As a collective group we have to pick up for the guys that are missing," captain Ryan Callahan
told reporters after Monday's practice. "It can't be one or two guys doing it themselves."

Who's hot: Jets sniper Evander Kane has a goal in three straight games and has scored in four of
his last five games.

Rangers center Derek Stepan has points in three of his last four games, with a goal and two assists.

Injury report: Byfuglien (upper body) and Miettinen (upper body) will likely have a clearer
picture following Tuesday morning's practice. Defenseman Tobias Enstrom (shoulder) and backup
goaltender Al Montoya (lower body) will not play.

The Rangers will likely be without Nash for a fourth straight game while defenseman Ryan McDonagh
(head) missed Monday's practice and is also likely out. Darroll Powe will return from a concussion
he suffered Feb. 17 and the foot injury suffered by defenseman Dan Girardi on Saturday wasn't enough
to keep him out of practice Monday. Defenseman Michael Del Zotto (lower body) missed the Montreal
game but should be back to face the Jets.

Tortes are delicious, but lozenges are soothing. I pick lozenges.

:)

Great GDT as always YWG, thanks for having our backs!

Down side: I dislike the Rangers.

Upside: Winnable game.

Down side: 4-1 on a road trip is asking for a lot.

Upside: Tony P is gonna dress and he is gonna mash somebody.

We are 2 points out of 8th and 3rd! I know that the guys are tired but I really hope they don't let ANOTHER chance to get into the playoff picture slip through their fingers. It's like the hockey Gods have done all they can to make our road to the post season easy since the team moved here and we keep falling short.

If our guys can hover around .500 on the road and improve their home record (they will) they will be fine.

Gotta keep working on special teams. Gotta start getting healthy, but neither is impossible.

If the Jets can sufficiently go up and in the oppositions general direction like we know they can they should have no trouble coming out the victors when the final buzzer sounds and the fans empty the building in a 6-1 thrashing with the New York faithful stomping out muttering "How often do you see one guy score 6 goals....."

However, if the Jets are unable to go towards the opposition with any type of ferocity, then the New York faithful will be walking out saying "Man that guy scored 6 goals for us with his ass".

Let us hope it is not the latter.

I see a tough, low scoring goalie duel in this game, but the King comes out on top with a 2-1 Rangers win. Go Jets Go! :handclap: :yo:

I have zero idea how this game will go......it always seems to go opposite of how I am feeling.

A win and we might look back at this road trip as the turning point of the season, a loss and we still have exceeded most expectations based on how we were playing the day the team left town. since we still don't have much to lose I will be hoping for a contined good effort and I hope our special teams don't kill us because right now 5v5 we are very tough to beat.

I've pretty much stopped having nightly expectations for this team, and try to enjoy each game on it's own. So far that strategy has been working for me.

Funny you should mention that King.....After our brutal 10 game stretch before this road trip and the good old "we now need to win 2 of every 3 games for the rest of the season" reality, I have been much more relaxed about our fait and I too have been taking more one game at a time and relaxing a bit more.

Ladd only has 2 penalties? WTF - what happened to the taking a stupid penalty every game, usually when the Jets were attempting to protect a one goal lead or keep the game tied?

There are a lot of little improvements here and there in how the Jets are managing the games, and it's starting to pay benefits.

Also, looking at the stats for the LLW line - is that not comparable to other #1 lines throughout the league? The third line scrub of a captain is leading the team in goals, points and shots, and the entire line is numbers 1,2 and 5 amongst the top scorers of both teams.

Hmmm, what to make of that, I wonder.

If the LLW line is as dominant as they have been through the last 6 or 7 games, there's not much doubt as to the outcome of this game.

I expect Jokinen, Wright, Peluso and Tancradi to step it up tonight, and the LLW line will give the Rangers fits, resulting in Torts suffering an aneurysm in the post-game comments.

LLW have been really good lately.

Ladd isn't leading the team in shots though. Kane has something like 25 more shots than him.

The Jets could use a little more production from their centres.

No Doubt! I was just thinking about that the other day. He has that part figured out and I wonder what he did to help that
