Why would I want to go there?

The only number that matters with regard to making the playoffs is 9. Any combination of 9 Jets wins or 9 Colorado losses and the Jet's are in. As long as the Jets go 9-6 in their last 15, the Avs can't catch up, even if they run the table.
Of course 3 point games put a wrench in the theory, but that's the simplest way to put it.

^ correct....until my list says "clinched" beside seven different teams then playoffs are not mathematically assured. All the other teams on the list could win 9 in a row.

Fair enough, Calgary would also have to lose 8, St. Louis 7, etc.
Point being, if the Jets win 9 of their last 15, they're in. 8 and 7, and someone would have to run the table.

WPG vs Dal & St.L = Any combination of 7 wins by the Winnipeg Jets or losses by those two teams (individually).

WPG vs ANA = Any combination of 6 wins by the Winnipeg Jets or losses by the Ducks.

WPG vs CGY = Any combination of 5 wins by the Winnipeg Jets or losses by the Flames.

*This takes into account, a worst case scenario of a 2nd Wild Card position being secured*

Actually the magic numbers are wrong ... only one team can win all it's games on the list because it's impossible for Av's to win 15 or the Kings 13 or Stars 12 or Ducks 11 or Blues 10 or Flames 9 ... they all play each other so somebody has to lose.
Kings and Avs play each other 2 more times ... Dallas's last 5 games are against teams fighting for WC playoff spots. Avs have 5 games ... the King have 7 games and I'm not even counting games against the top teams.

Relax there is no magic number ... the Jets are in the playoffs.

^ yes this has been understood from the beginning. Right now it's just purely easy math. Once it gets closer and the possible permutations become small enough I will begin to use those factors as well as applying the tiebreaker formula.
