Reading MSN.CA this morning and came across an opinion article by SB NATION. They asked the question "Could Kevin Shattenkirk help the Winnipeg Jets Defence?" Thoughts?

I'd have to question the thought process by the writer if he/she thinks that adding Shattenkirk and his upcoming salary makes any sense to the Jets.

And that's probably as nice as I can write that. :)

Adding Crosby, Karlsson and McDavid would help as well. All are as likely as Shattenkirk coming here as well.

Nurse, the next Bogosian: All tools and no toolbox.

The kid is a no fly for me... unless you can re-flip him but Poolparty is pretty great.

Puljujärvi appears to be just that as well. His hockey IQ is questionable, and he does not fill any need whatsoever.

i'd be surprised if he landed anywhere other than Toronto.

Any thoughts on picking up Kruger from Chicago. He'd be a great defensive zone specialist and could be had for likely next to nothing as Chicago needs to clear cap. He makes 3M for two more years. Is contract ends right as Laine needs an extension, so pretty much perfect timing. Expensive for a player who has no offence but the jets don't really need any more. Would help the pk you would think.

Makes sense to me, especially if the Jets lose a young fwd in the XD. However, he does have an NTC. Another guy the Hawks may be willing to give away for a song is Anisimov (his NMC doesn't start 'til 2018) - how about him?

Shatty is a 2RHD on most teams on no room whatsoever on the Jets. Not to mention he will be getting overpaid and too much term this summer. Pass.

I'd like to see the Jets make a play for Muzzin after the XD or de Haan at or after the XD.

A true 4th line center would certainly be a help here. Any PK help is welcome.

So I guess since our over valued head coach just bought a new home in south west Winnipeg I'm assuming an extension will be announced shortly.

I'll probably stop watching hockey if that happens

You realize that GM's, coaches and players come and go. Some you'll like and some you will hate, but let's all hope not everyone jumps on and off the bandwagon so easily.

Some real hot takes in this thread...

People are starting to get to the final straw situation I think. I don't see it from all perspectives but I understand why. We have been a failure of a organization up until now. You only get points for making the playoffs and actually winning with many people. We need to make that happen or there will be many many maaaaaanny more hot takes.

Weren't you advocating the real long play awhile back? Where the organization needed to build more and more on the young core? I was actually quite swayed by your arguments. I've always thought it was one of Chevy's strengths not blowing his load too early before the young core was ready to carry the team. IMO at least, making a move to contend before we were truly ready would have been a waste of assets and would have left us short in the long run.

Yeah I was which is why I said I don't see it from all perspectives but I understand why everyone is upset and it's only going to get worse. Just trying to say that we should get used to a lot of disgruntled fans around here. It's what happens when you are the only team in the league to have never won a playoff game.

I think it is more likely some who like to be disgruntled will have to look harder and harder for things to be mad about. No way our young core doesn't take continued steps forward. Goaltending alone would make us a safe playoff bet.
