Outside of a few goals? In case you missed it, VGK scored more than the Jets and won the series. That goal scoring thing is kind of the point in the game of hockey. Score more than you get scored on = win. Laine did his part in scoring AND being solid defensively. Don't take my word for it though, check the Jets players PO stats yourself.

Lol ok then..

There were way too many guys not scoring in this series , more veteran guys like Frenchie , Little , Lowry , Copp , Wheeler for me to bitch about Laine . I know Ehlers is still very young but not scoring even 1 goal all playoffs was very weird .

it's weird. i want to give credit where credit is due.
but the Jets earned that series loss.
lack of secondary scoring, really bad turnover timing...
such is life, i guess

I hope in the off season we can trade all the cliff jumpers and negative nancies for some good grade a prospects and draft picks.
Pom Poms not required*

It was a good run folks, we exceeded expectations, and as stated, we ran into a well rested good team.
We went ground and pound with 1 very good team and 1 excellent team and it just took the toll. Preds vs Jets should have been the WCF, not second round. The two best teams should not have to square off, but it is what it is.

Looking forward to next season, have a great summer. Will surf the boards off season intermittently.
Now it's time to fish, stop drinking and get back into working out.
This beer and snack weight must go!

Guys like Copp, Tanev, Lowry, Perreault, Armia need to be replaced with guys that can chip in once in awhile, the current bottom six is pretty unskilled with next to no threat to ever score.

But Sip where do you find bottom six guys with scoring touch that can play a defensive physical game, guys willing to give 110% in the playoffs and lay it all on the line unlike the guys who disappeared for the Jets in the Vegas series.

Lemieux, Appleton, trade some dead weight like Copp, Armia, etc. For guys who will pay the price...

That series was awful to watch.

The Jets could not handle the Vegas trap game or their pressure and all four lines basically got shut down in this series.

We got out coached, out played and out goalied.

So far, in NHL history, MA Fleury is having the single greatest playoffs a goaltender has ever had with a sample size of at least 10 games.

Maybe this is why I'm at peace. We lost to truly historic goaltending. God damn it Fleury.

I know all Jets' fans are really proud of your team....great year! I was really pulling for you (proud owner of a new Jets' cap :) ).

In any case, this team will be strong for a long time to come. Grats on a great year and thanks to a great fanbase for putting up with us bandwagoners.

The fact that you included a likely very injured Lowry kinda puts your post in the sin bin.

Yet Helly said "I thought this was our year". Before the start of the 2017-2018 season, no one expected the Jets to make the playoffs let alone finish No. 2 in the NHL in points after the disappointing season before.

I sense that Helly is not a popular player within the locker room.

Why would you say that?

On the way out of the final game someone kept bumping into me; I turned around and it was a jets fan in handcuffs being escorted out by the police. I’ve never seen that before

Not true in fact. Laine played with all the international games and the playoffs all together around 100 games already in the 2015-2016 season in Europe, and he endured just fine until the end of the season. This season his problem was though that as he needed to get stronger too, and even though he trained also a lot of stamina, he just couldn’t handle his bigger body mass well enough. With the stamina he has at the moment.
those games in liga are no where close to the physicality he got in the playoffs this year

Liiga playoffs are also pretty physical. But sure there is some difference. Just not like night and day. And the playoffs games don’t take away from the fact that he played about 100 games that season. So he did have a season that was long and exhausting. There was also the WHC tournament at the end of his season, which had a lot of NHL players and the playoffs phase there.

And hopefully just like Giguere, he comes up short in the Stanley Cup Final.
