I suppose the better idea is to trade Zadorov, so when McDavid or Kucherov or Gaudreau are on the ice they can be covered by...uh...Makar? Cole? Johnson? Girard?

I mean Girard isn't soft at all really. Obviously he doesn't overpower players much, but he's pretty physical for a 5'9 player. He's also an integral part of what makes us such a dangerous team.

That's the dream scenario, or if they decide Timmins is exempt but wouldn't be so sure. Regardless of what happens they will lose a good forward and its foolish to give up expansion draft-exempt players that will have an impact, and is on their ELC.

It's not foolish when you are getting a 35 Goal, 70+ point forward. Even less foolish when that Forward is signed to a contract that already has him underpaid by ~2M or more and its only the first year of the 7 year deal.

I get the idea of not wanting to trade Byram because of the uncertain future of our Defense, mainly Timmins and Graves. But the expansion draft should have zero impact on a deal.

This is what doesn't make sense to me. They are not gonna give up Byram with the uncertainty of their defense only to upgrade a forward, where they are already strong. And it's a double whammy because it only means they will lose a better player in the expansion draft. I'm all for trading for Kyle Connor but it can't be for Byram.

It seems fairly far-fetched, but one of the Jets' beat writers indicates that he's heard some chatter about the Jets trading Kyle Connor, with the Avs as a potential destination. He also indicates that the return would focus on Bowen Byram.

& cap space is fun but to get a high end D-man you need to put value on the table, garbage won't do.

Chevy messed up and has a terrible job trying to fix it without killing the forward group.
