It's almost as if people's opinions can change given more data.

tenor.gif

This is true, however, maybe in the absence of data, people should keep their opinions to themselves. When you don't have enough information to make a sound judgement then maybe don't be so adamant about a position you can't support? Not directing this at you, but there many on here saying we needed to send him home, that playing here could never result in anything positive etc etc, they were then proven completely wrong on that front and have gone from one extreme to the next. It's hard to take someone serious when they go from "send him home, there's nothing to gain here, he's clearly not ready" to "play him on the top line" all within the span of a month or two. Sry, but this place overreacts about almost everything and some of the most outspoken on this subject have been the ones that have been off the mark the most from the beginning.

If you don't have enough information maybe you wait and gather some information before making some of the claims that have been made in this thread.

If you think Kotkaniemi is ready for a bigger role, you don’t know what you’re watching.
...

Have you not read anything I just wrote ? Talk about missing the point.

He's not necessarily ready for a 1st line role, on a contender. Happily, thats not the case for the Habs, and currently theyre playing a guy that will NEVER be ready in his spot.

Who's the last player with upside to be given opportunities and fail ? Oh right, it never happened.

Youre like a BS machine gun.

He's not for a number of reasons. But the second we wave the flag on this season we can bump him with no untowards consequences. No pressure on the Kid and a taste of where we want him excelling.

Ten ES assists, 7 of them being secondary.

We have a playmaker here ! Them 5 primary points! MY LAWD! WHAT A PLAYER!
Danault maybe a pretty mediocre middle 6er, but if you can't see he's good for that line, you need to get a new prescription. Just like Shaw with Domi/Drouin, he just fits. Hopefully with Byron back, Kotkaniemi can find similar chemistry with him and Lehkonen.

Not only do you want no pressure, but you don't want him matching up with the the top centers of the world because right now he'd get rekt and you want to keep him confident and feeling like he belongs.

It will be interesting to see how it plays out but I don't think the Kid is all that fragile and better wingers can only help his game.

WTH.

Someone on twitter suggesting that the Habs should consider having KK play in the world championships, as they did last year with Mete.

Is this a viable option?

If he can't play with anything else than garbage giving him the potential to dominate with high end talent(prospects) at the WJC would sound like an ok plan.

Success feeds confidence.

Byron and Lehkonen are garbage?

Lehkonens career high is 28 points but keep dreaming he's some high end offensive player. Byron has once hit 40 points, again wow amazing.
Offensively they are nothing to praise at.

The goal should be to develop Kotka into a #1C.

Best way to create an offensive player with blinders is to pair him with the Agostinos and Armias of this world. Kotkaniemi will start to hold onto it a bit longer, because he knows plays wont convert. Then he'll turn into Eller 2.0 or Galchenyuk 2.0 and people will wonder why.

You're right about confidence, 100%, but you're not keeping your players confident if they don't see tangible results. It's also a myth that he will have to face the toughest matchups if he plays with at least one good winger. It's a stupid myth and you know it. Theres a way to make it all work without the "Huurrrrr durrrrrrrrrrrr Tough Matchupseeeeeh"

Agostino was an injury replacement, and Armia is hardly some unskilled guy lmao

Also RIGHT NOW he;s lining up with Byron and Lehkonen, both skilled guys.

Agostino/Hudon/Peca whoever aren't players, Lehkonens career high is 28 points, Byron has once hit 40 points.

I'm sorry to let you know that they aren't anything special and their trade values would be garbage.
Lehk would be fine on the other wing if there was someone better offensively on the other.

Man we have such a different view on skilled.

Both 3rd line players. Why does Domi get Drouin, and Danault get Tatar/Gally but Kotkaniemi gets 3rd liners ?
Kotka got first crack at Drouin and couldn’t make it work where Domi and Drouin had instant chemistry. Danault gets Tatar and Gallagher because that line can be used in any situation and is incredibly effective. It’s pretty obvious.
