Harold Ballard, had he lived long enough, would have eventually gotten one.

Doubtful as the award is for outstanding service to hockey in the United States.

Past Bruins winners are:
1967 Charles Adams
1968 Walter A. Brown
1970 Eddie Shore
1972 Ralph 'Cooney' Weiland
1974 Weston Adams
1977 Johnny Bucyk
1978 Phil Esposito
1979 Bobby Orr
1984 Art Ross
1988 Fred Cusick
1989 Lynn Patrick
1996 Milt Schmidt
1999 Harry Sinden
2003 Willie O'Ree
2003 Raymond Bourque
2010 Cam Neely

I suppose it Sinden was a past winner, Jacobs winning it was inevitable.

This thread is mostly just people talking about how crazy this thread will be.

This is like if Chekhov's gun never got used.

I have a more modern theatrical premise I call "Chekhov's Phaser"; it states that if nobody is going to die in a landing party, there is no reason for the guy in the red shirt to beam down.

If anyone deserves this award next year, it's Rocky Wirtz. Dollar Bill and Bob Pulford, by the way, are previous winners, 1978 and 2011, respectively.

Rocky Wirtz knew his father was wrong but also knew that it was useless to discuss things with him as he wasn't not going to change the way the Blackhawks operated.

I can not fathom how difficult it was for Rocky to hear Blackhawks fans booing his father at the first home game after he died 8 years ago.

Rocky was hurt by the fans reaction but not angry as he understood the fans frustration and vowed he would change the culture from top to bottom and look where they are today.

Terry Pegula should also be a shoo in for this award as he has invested heavily in developmental hockey at both Penn State and the HarborCenter in downtown Buffalo.

Agreed on Pegula. The advent of D-I hockey at Penn State has been a delight, though I don't care for the six-team Big Ten. More Pegulas are needed to upgrade hockey at places like the U. of Illinois. Hey, how about UK?

P.S. Merrimack will be hosting Arizona State during the upcoming season.

I have words, but they would be worthy of litigation so I will just say this is like the Grand Dragon of the Klan winning a NAACP Image award

This nails it. I wonder if Jacobs will renounce the rights to the award if they ask him to pay for shipping charges.

From Josh Cooper at Puck Daddy

The First Annual Montgomery Burns Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Field of USA Hockey

Jeremy Jacobs has done a lot for the sport, it's true. Like greedily stop it from happening as scheduled twice in the last decade, probably planning to stop it again in another six years or so, and trying to block out the sun.

It therefore makes a lot of sense that USA Hockey would be like, “This is the guy we like the most.â€

But guys what if, and bear with me here, but what if Jeremy Jacobs is actually …................... bad?
