They were never really planning on keeping him after last season, when the Chargers, I believe picked up most of the remaining salary. Like Byard from Phi, it was a remaining of the season rental.

Either he would take a pay cut or he'd be a cut. Probably spoke to him about a pay cut and when his camp said no, they cut him.
