Since there will be no Summer blockbusters this year for probably the first time in 45 years, we might as well recognize the first. Jaws was released on June 20th, 1975.

That last article offers an interesting tidbit that, before Jaws, studios released lesser quality movies in the Summer because that was thought to be a time when mostly teenagers off from school went to the movies. Boy, how that's changed.
