It's been hard for me to find a detailed breakdown of the move by move, trade by trade, draft pick by draft pick, signing by signing that the Sabres have done since JB has been the GM. Can someone find and post everything he's had his hand in as a GM?

Since May 11th 2017 ...

Thanks Sabresfansince1980 :5:

I just wanted an all in one location here post. A running tally if you will. If this is incorrect or incomplete, please tell me and i'll correct it. Everything JB has had his hands in besides coaching hires. If someone has that info of all the hires he's made with coaches and supporting staff that would be great!

What I find interesting is how some posters say we don't have the assets or no one wants to trade with us yet Botts makes these little trades like Fedun and Leier so he is doing something. There are trades going around in the NHL.

So why isn't Botts making a trade to improve the team? We have the assets to do it. Even if it is our struggling player for their struggling player. Many times that get a player going again.

Before people jump to conclusion
-No I don't mean mortgage the future
-No I don't mean a bandaid trade
-No I Don't mean a trade for the sake of a trade
-No I don't mean a rental
-yes a change of scenery trade is ok

What is the insight into Botts plan??? That is my complaint.

A 2nd was just traded for a 4th liner. Is that what you want Botterill to do?

You can’t make hockey trades with total busts. You can’t trade bad contracts without losing future assets. Are we winning this year? Or do we be patient for one more and promote from within?

I agree that making trades generally isn't as easy as people make it out to be, but cherry picking a bad trade and pretending that's the standard is pretty misleading.

And Neiderreiter was traded for Rask...

We can cherry pick trades. What I want is for the GM of the Buffalo Sabres to build a team and not wait 4 years for our 3 1sts to mature.

Sorry to break your heart but if we have the same roster next year we wont make the playoffs again.

Trades or UFA signings must happen to improve this team.

Our only asset for a hockey trade is Reinhart. Is this what you’re pushing?

Botts managed to trade two guys who right now are lighting up the league and couldn't manage to get a single credible NHL player back. That's Ed Johnson level terrible as a GM. I honestly have zero faith in his skill as a talent evaluator because I'm not impressed with his drafts and he constantly gets worked in trades.

Your arguments thus far have been that:

-People shouldn't hope for trades because 4th liners cost a second round pick (and by implication all trades will incur a similarly lowly return for a high cost).

-If the team pursues a ''hockey trade" it will mean parting with one of our best players, because none of our other assets have value and teams only trade for that caliber of player.

I'm sure there are reasonable points to be made in favor of what you seem to advocating for, but twisting reality via extremes and acting like they're absolutes isn't very persuasive.

Are we really going to bash Botts for the Kane trade? Sorry, I do not remember anyone else besides me who was constantly hoping for a Kane 7/50 extension. I remember defending Kane during Kane vs Simmonds (LOL) and Kane vs Nino (LOLOL) the past few years. Now we should bash Botts for getting a 1st back for a guy NONE of you wanted here?

The bashing was for the poor return. And no one has said much about it since the Sharks ceded the first. Or are you not looking at the dates of the posts, since this thread got necro'd from last summer.

Think about this for a second: there is an excellent chance that he is going to have to trade Skinner for (if we are lucky) a late first round pick, likely in 2020. He will have traded ROR, Kane and Skinner (all excellent NHL players) and not got back a single credible NHL player. That's not Chiarelli level bad, that's Mike Milbury level bad.

Let’s not future guess outcomes to complain.

Plenty of actual things to be worried about.

ROR trade was astronomically bad.

Can’t blame him for Kane though. We got a 1st and that’s all we could have ever really expected. He has a bad reputation around the league.

I don't normally disagree with your takes - but:

- Rightly or wrongly the reasons for moving ROR I understand why he felt it had to be done. And he arguably got more for him than we originally gave u to get him

- He got as much as could be expected for Kane who was not a fit on this team moving forward. It was a bad trade by Murray in the first place.

- If he trades Skinner for a 1st it's a net gain. Although I fully expect him to be resigned - hopefully the deal isn't crazy.
