Do you want him to tell the fans they’re in for some suffering? Last GM to do that had a bit of a falling out in the league.

There’s good reasons managers can never be wholly transparent. The only thing he can’t hide are the moves he makes.

A good manager knows how to say it without saying it. Monday will likely be more revealing though.

I’ve been hearing it since the day he started it. Not sure where other people think he’s put all his eggs into these last two seasons baskets? Every move he’s made has been a balance of now and the future. Last season signing a bunch of guys to 1-year 3rd chance contracts wasn’t an all-in approach. Neither was this past season’s cap dumps with 1-2 years remaining approach either.

It’s not until the hand picked youth, who haven’t been given up by some other team, make their way into the roster will we expect to compete for many years in a row. And gearing up that system from the barebones Murray had it in took time.

If that’s not his way of saying it without saying it, not sure what is

I hope you are right. I suspect we are seeing a bit of the "No plan, plan" in action though.

Wow, Botterill admitted TM was on his list. The first time he’s ever said something of substance. Even though it was something universally reported as fact, that’s still a big deal for Jason “Tight Lips” Botterill.

Botterill isn't competitive enough. He doesn't have the drive to be the best. He's always one step behind. The Q situation is a good example.
A source told The Buffalo News the Sabres reached out to three-time Stanley Cup winning coach Joel Quenneville but learned Quenneville already was on the verge of accepting an offer from the Florida Panthers. He was introduced as the team's coach during a press conference Monday.

What's wrong with watching a coach fail in the most spectacular manner you will ever see one fail, belatedly firing him and then reaching out to the best candidate who had already decided to take another job? This is just another example of people taking unnecessary potshots at Botterill, who is doing an amazing job of putting together a team that might just make the playoffs within 5 years. People just have no patience.

I have a transcript of the TM inteview. Actually it was 15 second phone call and we only got one side of it.
Botts: The Sabres organization has comped your expenses in Buffalo, as you know we're looking for a head coach
Botts: Oh, you agreed to a deal with the Kings a week ago. Never mind

If we're going to have a circus act for a front office, I want the best!
We want Milbury!

I am also thrilled with Botterill's patience. Sure, we could have backed up the brinks truck for Trotz last year, or could have been wooing some of the top candidates for the better part of the year, but we had to fully vet Housley. Aren't we all glad that we didn't prematurely fire him? What if he went to another team and won? We would be a laughing stock. So anyway, here's Randy Carlyle.

Because 90% of the people on here think they can do a better job. You know, not everything is going to go perfectly and you're not always going to get the players, coaches, staff, etc you want, but what is available. To many people thinks it's a buffet and you can pick whatever you want.

How the hell can we have been out in the last minute with Q? Botts must have seriously had no plan b and thought Housley would be the coach next year until he himself decided to fire him AFTER the season?
It’s just... How can you not know that you’re going to need a new coach until after this season?

He gave himself a timeline of when to start looking for a coach, as well as when he would make the decision to fire the coach. :sarcasm:
