When is Jared's birthday. According to the Sudbury Wolves website, it's Sept 21, 1990, meaning he won't be draft eligible until 2009. Which is better for him, because it would give him 2 more years in the OHL to develop his game.

However, the OHL website has him listed on August 21/1990, making him 2008 draft eligible.

Which one is correct?

In terms of draft position, Jared would benefit more if his bday was in Sept, giving 2 more years of junior. He won't make the jump to the NHL until the fall of 2009 at the earliest.

A few lines below where the Sudbury site has him born on 9/21/90, it then says he's eligible for the 2008 draft. So that would lead me to believe that the 9/21 was a typo and should be 8/21, which is what hockeydb.com has listed for his birthdate.

He won't make the jump to the NHL. Period. He's just not that good, he'll be a decent OHL'er, he was a midpack player on a midpack team during his Minor Midget year. His name is what has carried him so far. 3 points in his rookie campaign plus a single goal in a run to the OHL Finals, not good by any stretch. In comparison, Eric had 49 points, Jordan had 28, hell even Marc, a defensive defensemen, had 19 in his rookie campaign. Jared is a fringe player in the OHL, he won't make it to the NHL.

I wouldn't put the verdict out on him, he played a very limited role last season getting only a few shifts a game. Let him play this season out and then make a judgment on him.

This alone speaks pretty loudly about Jared. He got very little icetime on a 7th place team in an Eastern Conference that was considered fairly weak. I know that Sudbury never really played up to its potential all season, as illustrated in their playoff run. But if the team is faltering, why not give him soem more time on the ice and see what he can do? Maybe it's because he quite simply wasn't good enough to warrant more ice time, or it's because Foligno doesn't quite have his head on straight. Probably a mix of both.
