Bruins require more from power play
On Monday at Ristuccia Arena, the Bruins took the first step toward addressing one of their biggest blemishes.

Before practice, 12 skaters, under the watch of assistant coach Geoff Ward, hit the ice for power-play drills. During practice, those same 12 went through several repetitions against penalty killers. Claude Julien approved of what he saw.

“I liked our results,†said the Bruins coach. “I thought our power play was moving the puck well in practice today and doing a lot of good things. We’ll keep working on that.â€

Full house expected for Tuesday's scrimmage
All 17,565 tickets for the Bruins' Black and Gold scrimmage Tuesday at TD Garden have been distributed. The game will take place at 7 p.m.
The Bruins will recall additional players from Providence to participate in the scrimmage. The team has hired referees for the night to replicate a normal game setting.

Chris Bourque's not a kid anymore
Even then, you could look at Bruins star Ray Bourque’s sons, Christopher and Ryan, and see that they’d been born with rare athletic gifts.

“There were the Bourque boys, and their sister (Melissa) when she was young, and Brian Lemelin (goalie Reggie Lemelin’s son), they were all rugrats,†said former B’s enforcer-turned-radio star Lyndon Byers, on hand yesterday at Ristuccia Arena. “You’d see Chris, when he was like 5 or 6, go on the ice with Ray after the Bruins practice, and he’d just be flying. He was unbelievably talented even at that age. You’d just go, ‘Oh, yeah, NHL player.’

Foes plan to put up fight .
The most obvious victims of Bruins brawn, the Buffalo Sabres, who pretty much had their season ended last year when Milan Lucic steamrolled goalie Ryan Miller and they couldn’t respond, have added 6-foot-8 tough guy John Scott along with Steve Ott. With Ott and Patrick Kaleta both in Buffalo, the Sabres have two of the worst — or best, depending on your perspective — agitators in the game.
