Up until last year, I think his shot was okay. Not everyone scores by blowing it past goalies a la Brett Hull. Well placed wrist shots can do it, too. I hope and think he will rebound closer to his 19 goal season of a few years ago.
If not, three down years is a definite pattern, and he will not be re-signed, a la Brett Ritchie finally working his way out of the system as a regression prone player. Clearly, Nill has at limited hope in Janny's ability to do that, or have truly healthy knees, but not totally sold either, a la the one year contracts.
And, if somehow (hope not) Stars are out of PO picture next year, think he can easily be offered as trade bait as a low cost, low risk (in that he can play lower lines) potential for scoring punch on a team making a playoff run. Or, traded earlier after some success, in a hockey trade as a main, or more likely, throw in, piece.
(Yes, I know, I could have shortened that to "anything might happen.")
