Doubt his shot is any different than when he was scoring 15-19. Volume of shots was even about the same. Looks like bad luck to me. Like what Seguin had to start the season but it lasted all season.

My memory isn’t the best, but I don’t remember his shots being as weak or poorly placed in past years. This year it seemed every shot was a muffin right to the crest.

Up until last year, I think his shot was okay. Not everyone scores by blowing it past goalies a la Brett Hull. Well placed wrist shots can do it, too. I hope and think he will rebound closer to his 19 goal season of a few years ago.

If not, three down years is a definite pattern, and he will not be re-signed, a la Brett Ritchie finally working his way out of the system as a regression prone player. Clearly, Nill has at limited hope in Janny's ability to do that, or have truly healthy knees, but not totally sold either, a la the one year contracts.

And, if somehow (hope not) Stars are out of PO picture next year, think he can easily be offered as trade bait as a low cost, low risk (in that he can play lower lines) potential for scoring punch on a team making a playoff run. Or, traded earlier after some success, in a hockey trade as a main, or more likely, throw in, piece.

(Yes, I know, I could have shortened that to "anything might happen.")

He keeps getting pushed down the lineup. He's never going to average 17 mins TOI again in his career.

His shot volume reduced by 23% last year and if he wants to score goals he needs to bring up his shot tally and a little bit of luck.

It would be two down years in a row if he has another one like last year not a few. He had 19 goals in 17-18 not a few years ago. Maybe his first two years were luck.
