Janny Hockey not looking too good these days. Every injury puts him on the opposite end of the spectrum when he returns.

At least with Schenn you can limit his foot speed issues by playing 7 and giving him dzone draws and Foote ozone draws. Rutta however disrupts the our defensive scheme with his positioning and decision making. I’m shocked that he’s continuing to get the nod and he hasn’t frustrated the hell out of the coaches

Goals against averaged 2.8 per game last year, 2.5 so far this year.

We’re playing lesser quality teams though. Like more than half our division has no business scoring more than 2 goals per game against us.

Rutta has had a solid playoffs imo. Had a couple goals and has played more physical too. Has gotten hemmed in a few times but pretty much like all our D.

I think some of you are confusing solid for "not complete dog shit every time he touches the ice".

The bar was so low for him, I think recency bias is kicking in too much

If he takes no more than 2, preferably 1.5ish, then keep. Anything more, let him walk and try and trade for a Schenn, Mayfield type or hope Foote can take a big step forward.

He’s turned into a pretty serviceable guy. He changed my mind.

Janni hockey is mobile. Moves the puck well enough and has gotten tough tasks at times. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I'd keep Rutta.
