Who is this kid? I've heard he is a very good two way center who is fairly physical, and he owns good leadership qualities. What type of potential does he own, and where does he project to get drafted?

Here's some info I can gather on this guy from the net, just in case you haven't seen them yet. Apparently he's had an impressive WJC.

HF U18 WJC Finland Team Report
"Jan-Mikael Juutilainen is the team's top scorer, oldest player and captain. An extremely skilled playmaking center, Juutilainen is still only mediocre in terms of speed, strength and defensive play, yet still is very good on international ice."

Viking Cup game vs. US (With Trevor Lewis, Kyle Okposo participating. Named 2nd Star)

Listed as a riser in the ISS/TSN Scouting Reports
"Jan Mikael Juutilainen / Jokerit

Juutilainen was the captain of a very good Finnish squad and despite his slight nature; he was very instrumental in their Silver medal finish. He was exceptional on faceoffs and was really the offensive catalyst on both the power play and 5 on 5. He displayed tremendous acceleration; despite his size he made good use of his body. His performance certainly helped his ranking based on his tournament play."

Good playmaker, but don't have the speen and the strengh to be a first round pick. He's still a good prospect for whoever draft him, but he's far from a sure bet. Playmaking skills for sure, but he has to work on the rest of his game...a project after all.

I don't know- the fact that he's going the college route makes me think he might make it into the first round. With the hype on him growing and the fact the team that drafts him gets four years to sign him I think he'll leapfrog some other Europeans that now require expensive transfer fees and have to be signed in two years.

He's projected as a 2nd- 3rd rounder. I wouldn't mind, if Waddell snaggs him with Atlanta's second rounder.

I think Juutilainen will be around in the third. I'm hoping that DW can snag someone like Fiala or Kana with the second.

My DW fantasy draft:

1st: Little or Sheppard or Brassard (might be falling)
2nd: Fiala or Kana
3rd: Juutilainen or Calla

Well, if we get him in the 3rd round it would be alright as well, but I have a feeling that he won't last.

I see Jarmo snagging him with the Blues 2nd round pick. Something about him screams JK pick to me.

He displayed tremendous acceleration;

Is it me or how could a guy described as being mediocre in terms of speed can have tremendous acceleration???? So he's slow but go from slow to average in no time??? :dunno:

It does sound strange but speed and acceleration arent the same thing. A Mercedes can have a top speed of 170mph but a VW Golf accelerates faster.
