Probably has to do with how desperately the Bruins need depth scoring in the bottom 6, particularly a center. I’m ok with not signing him, but I think we need more help up front.Didn't see why this guy was getting all the love he did, so I'm fine with the decision not to sign him. If he were a true NHL caliber player, he'd have already been on an NHL roster and not scrambling to get a player try out with Providence.

I’m still hoping they can redeem themselves soon lol. But yeah, I think they need to make a trade or two and they have the pieces to do it. Wideman and a 1st for Horton and Campbell is my measuring stick, I want to see a trade that looks like a clear win. Kovar was interesting but no big deal. They definitely need help, but I don't see them getting it any time soon. And really, do we want this front office trading for players currently in the league given their track record of getting bent over in these kinds of moves?
The Bruins not signing Kovar tells me two things. One being is that the Bruins did not think Kovar played with a pace that was up to speed with the current NHL, something to keep in mind for the folks that throw names around in the Proposal thread. The other being is that they believe someone within the organization can fill that #3C spot, whether it be Cave or most likely Frederic, sooner rather than later.
They were ready to overextend themselves for Kovalchuk, I wonder what they think of his "pace"?
Clearly there was a little something there if they were willing to let this go on as long as it did. I just wonder if they're going for a certain archetype and missing out on guys who would bring something different to the table.
If it's for one year there's little harm in it considering he'd probably return to Europe before going to the AHL if sent down. From what I read in Czech press Kovar was interested only in one way contract. My guess is Bruins were interested in him however willing to give him only two way contract.
