Lol if you actually put weight into plus/minus.

Plus/minus is not the end all, be all, but it can be useful if you look at it in context. If a team is bad, the majority of players are minuses, and you have a few player with pluses, those guys are probably playing well.

Kovar is a team low -11 in 11 games. PRO is not a great team, but that is easily the worst mark, given the amount of games played.

9 of the 14 forwards that have played at least 9 games for the P-Bruins this year are minus players.

Ryan Fitzgerald is next at -10.

So break it down per game.

Kovar averages a minus 1 per game. Fitzgerald a minus .55.
I think the player is learning to play the North American game at a high level and has been somewhat thrown into the fire. Kovar's been playing against other team's top talent a lot because of the JFK recall and, before this past weekend, huge hits to center depth in Szwarz and Frederic both being out. Anyone who has watched Kovar play will tell you he is not going to be a center at the NHL level, but how refined his puck skills are and how quickly he makes good plays even when guys are crashing in on him... There's something to be said for his skill level and his 'urgency'.

Cave now with the big club, as well.

If the Bruins want to have him practice in Boston and see how he handles himself, they should.

However, in my opinion, I just don’t think he has the skating and pace to play at that level. He’s good in the offensive zone and corners, but he’s just out of place and behind the play outside of there.

That doesn't stop them from playing Noel Acciari, or Backes (until very recently) ;)

On a serious note, if Friedman is correct and Sweeney is indeed "shopping" then this makes perfect sense for the Bs- why not see what they have in him and whether he is an option before sending off players/picks for someone else. Let's hope he has enough savvy on the ice to compensate for a subpar wheels. I haven't seen him play, but for those that have, has he shown the ability to backcheck in the C spot that Cassidy is going to demand of him? Could we be looking at a Krejci style player? Krejci backchecks well and plays solid D even though he isn't the fleetest skater.

No thanks on Kovar. Already have enough smaller, non-physical players on the roster today.
Well if it makes you feel better, he’d just be replacing one of the other smaller, non-physical players

I agree though, they need some size up front that won’t get knocked off the puck so easily.

As mentioned about, he is a team worst minus 11 in 12 games in the AHL. That is glaring. How will he match up against the speed of the NHL?

Really dumb question, but Kovar is wearing a helmet with #82 on it. Does every player get assigned a number or is there more potentially to it?
