A lot of HFers were deeply concerned that the Sharks needed more depth at wing. Their current 3rd line LW is Marcus Sorensen, an unproven AHLer and former Swedish league star who came on in last year's playoffs. Neal has been hampered by injuries, and Sorensen has been playing with Joe Thornton, and he has a slightly better PPG rate. Who is the better player currently?

Code:
Neal 30gp 3g 3a 6p -5 $5,750,000
Sorensen 31gp 5g 6a 11p +4 $700,000

Honestly gimme Sorensen. Was already underrated and Neal was already overrated coming into this year

Flames have been playing him with callups and grinders. Snipers like him dont produce unless they are on one of the top 2 lines. He will be fine once he gets good linemates.

Seriously, I have no idea how Marcus Sorensen is winning this.

Yes, Sorensen’s game is trending upwards and Neal’s is trending downwards, but James Neal averages 30 goals per 82 games over his career. He scored 25 goals last year and Marcus Sorensen is on pace for roughly 25 points.

The OP never specified to take contracts into account, either.

lmao it’s funny when people make polls to prove a point and it ends up going the other way

Neal's career low shooting percentage in a single season is 10.4% (career average is 11.8%).

This season, Neal is currently shooting 4.1% which is basically 1/3 of his career average.

Over the last 5 seasons, only 15 players have scored more 5v5 goals than Neal.

Over the last 3 seasons, only 8 players have scored more 5v5 goals than Neal.

He'll be fine.
