Didn't see a thread on this (absolute crime) but does anyone remember doing this in NHL 99 all the time? Shooting muffins to get the goalie down with a rebound in front of him and then scoring on the rebound by going around the goalie as he's unable to move. My favorite goal of the year just for that

No...I do not remember this goal from NHL99 or any other video game I've played, including Metal Gear Solid and Halo.

In NHL 99 I'd just shoot it from centre ice and it would go over the goalie's head and in.

To be fair, this isn't so much a video game move as a low-level hockey move. NHL goalies are generally good enough to control that rebound, and NHL defensemen are generally not just going to stand there and admire the forward going to get his own rebound.

The fact that it worked tells you something about where the Devils are right now.

That was the other go to move, I think there was a goal recently scored like that too. And pulling off to the faceoff circle from the middle of the ice and sniping over the glove hand

This exact type of rebound. Also I can forgive a goalie conditioned to facing snipes not expecting an intentional muffin. On a full strength shot rebounds often take care of themselves

He didn't go around the goalie until after he scored. Vrana went 5-hole on the rebound.
