He very good in his own end and not bad on the cycle but makes some odd decisions on the rush.

Okay, here I come to ruin the party or at least make a case to get thrown out.

I find his play to be vanilla to the extreme. Is he a smart enough player? Sure. But nothing at all about his game stands out. He seems naturally timid and his energy level never seems to get over a 6.5.

I never thought I would turn into this guy, but it really would be helpful, IMO, to bring some real size to this team. Even our physical fourth line is limited in overall size.

I just don’t see how a JFK is what this team needs now or anywhere in the near future. No doubt I’m rooting for him to excel and prove me wrong, but there’s not much there to excite me. Color me impatient.

He also looks vanilla because these are his first games.

He's keeping it simple and trying to do what he's supposed to and not taking risks.

He will get more confident as he settles in and will start showing more flash as he takes more chances

Is this a for sure though?

Does his game look a lot different down a level in Providence?

Note: I want to be honest that I did not see tonight’s game. So any judgment I have does not include anything that happened tonight.

Maybe I'm watching a different JFK, but I've enjoyed watching him these last 3 or so games. Tonight he had a nice subtle pass back to Marchand while drawing the defense to him. I think he's been battling very well along the boards as well. I love that he goes right to the net when in the 0-zone to look for rebounds. I can't say enough about his defense, I feel like he's almost putting pressure and making solid plays in his own zone or on the forecheck.

Probably it has to do with breaking the ice (teeth).... like "oh hell with it" lol

He is much more involved along the boards and he won a few battles, to pass the puck to the open man

Watching him is odd after seeing him at BU & Providence

He is trying and somewhat succeeding playing a different way then I’ve ever seen him

He’s playing faster but that Krejci-like slow things down game is diluted and unrecognizable

However, if he can stay in the lineup
till Bergeron gets back I think you will see more skills and his decisions and creativity emerge

If he continues to struggle in the dot (38% at the dot tonight), do you think Cassidy considers sliding him to the wing? Maybe use that as a way to break up the big line?

Marchand - Bergeron - JFK
DeBrusk - Krejci - Pastrnak
Heinen - Nordstrom - Bjork
Wagner - Kuraly - Backes

Not a fan of breaking up the 2 lines that work to make a spot for JFK

I think he is better suited as a center ... Nordstrom on the other hand is better suited as a winger

Marchand Bergeron Pasta
Debrusk Krejci Heinen (this line has looked decent and needs someone strong on the boards to open room )
Nordstrom JFK Bjork
Wagner Kuraly Backes/Acciari

2 things I see different and I'm a bit surprised at the first one,in the AHL he's nearly unbeatable in faceoffs and as we see here he's struggling, everyone has bad games at the dot but he's overmatched right now.
2. My biggest issue's in Providence with him was compete level and consistency ,I don't see that as a problem in Boston,if anything he's growing into his role nicely in not the best of circumstance.
And I'll add his defensive game is NHL quality Ive got no issues with that

With this said, a lot of the recent young guys showed their unique style within a relatively short number of NHL games. DeBrusk's tenaciousness, Donato's shot, McAvoy's smoothness, Carlo's stick and so on.

Hopefully JFK can show what he's all about. At the moment every attribute seems middling. Maybe he grows into it though.

Not a surprise. Who’s next though?

I'm going to guess no one considering they have just 12 healthy forwards on the roster.

It's interesting to note that Colby Cave according to Cap Friendly is not exempt from waivers, so I expect he's here for awhile now. Even with Bergeron back they would only have 13 guys with both JFK and Bjork sent down.

All we need now is for Bergeron to get healthy, Donato scratched, and the Re-Julien of this roster will be complete.

Cave has played better, but I’m not sure he should be playing above the 4th line if we want to make a deep run? I’d like to see a 4th line of
Kuraly-Cave-Backes, nice blend of grit and skill. Still leaves a hole at 3C.

I agree that Cave has been much better and deserves to stay but this was a good step for JFK. Hopefully he goes back down and puts up a point per game the rest of the way for Providence.

He got a little taste, showed some offensive skill (I thought he displayed some beautiful passes, but far too inconsistent), and scored a couple goals. Go back down and work on that overall game and come into camp next year ready to go. It'll be important for him because Frederic and Studnicka are right there as well.

Seems like we’ve been saying this about a lot of the kids this season so far. Should have tempered our (my) expectations I’m guessing

After last season it seemed a reasonable expectation. In fact, they are playing more like I expected last season insofar as the lack of scoring goes.

The rumor with the Providence people is he going right back up after the game

Is it a personnel need for the P-Bruins? I get that it might be cap space saved for a couple days, but last time it was a "paper" deal he didn't play at all down there.

I think its give him big minutes since he's seen no action last few games and a salary cap move

JFK hasn't been all that impressive but I was still disappointed to see him scratched so that 0 offense grinders could play.

I believe Heinen-JFK-Nordstrom would be a vast improvement over our current third line scramble
