10 million for a lottery ticket, he might be great and tear everything up or he might be injured and invisible all year, as a Steeler fan I'm hoping for a repeat of last year

The Browns have been chasing him for more than two seasons, but finally got it done. The song and dance the two sides were playing was a bit of a pain, but I love the low risk high reward type deal. Much happier with this move at 1 year than an older JJ Watt on a multi-year deal. Hopefully AB and Stefanski will be focused on drafting an LB or DB at 26 now.

It opens up possibilities at 26. Although, unless they love the essentially safety role J-OK played at ND or Collins high-coverage grades at Tulsa, I'd be very shocked to see this regime take an Off-ball LB in the 1st. I think they value positions as QB in a clear tier 1, then tier 2 of O tackle, WR, edge/elite interior pass rushing 3-tech, CB and maybe safety. Off ball LBs, RBs, and interior lineman on the lower end before specialists. Keep in mind the Browns base defence this year is likely a 4-2-5 big nickel with 3 safeties. I think Barmore could be in play. My guess is Barmore or one of the CBs at 26.

I don't have crazy high hopes for Clowney, but with more limited snap counts, and an interesting rotation of Garrett, Clowney, Takk, Gustin and whatever Weaver is (a guy PFF loved entering last years draft but was cut by the Dolphins after an injury and picked up by us on waivers and then IR'd). Clowney still commanded a ton of double teams for an edge when healthy the last 2 years.

And the Browns have also been dealing with injury-prone guys playing opposite of Garrett. They liked Vernon a lot over there, but he misses too many games or is playing through injury too often.

Clowney will disappoint the average fan but he will still be a net positive especially against the run if he can stay healthy. Browns can now really unleash Garrett to do damage (hopefully the legal kind).

What was up with him in Tennessee? Dude had 0 sacks. How does he warrant 10 mil?!
Behind the sack numbers, he did still generate a good amount of QB pressure. He was still a good pass rusher even if he never registered a sack. If you ignore where he was drafted, Clowney is still a fine player. If he could stay healthy, he’d be paid more. But there’s a reason the elite pass rushers are getting paid twice what he will be. $10 million isn’t as much as it sounds in today’s NFL.
