Still Pettersson, need to see more from Hughes first. Revisit this one in a year

I like Hughes' skating a lot more than Pettersson's. EP has a fantastic hockey brain when he's on though and I tend to side with IQ over tools in most instances.

Tough to say at this time, more information needed. Went with EP mostly because he's put in a couple nice seasons.

Pettersson. Hughes is never going to be a star.

Looks like he could be one on a teen sitcom on the Disney channel tho.

Hughes simply because Pettersons twig like body makes me think one bad hit and he will be done.

Hughes for sure. Hughes made the NHL as an 18 year old and is on pace to shatter Pettersson’s D+2 season.

EP right now so far looking at his past 2 seasons and Hughes' struggles last season (tho he was a rookie on a terrible team). Moving forward, I think I would take my shot on Hughes. EP is what he is. Good 2 way C probably good for 70 points a year. Great player on the PP. Hughes has shown bursts of speed and dangles and comfortability I never saw last season. I think if he continues down his path and keeps getting stronger and more confident, we're looking at another McDavid/ McKinnon level skater who will probably put up 90 points a year.

Pettersson for now. Call me conservative, but I have a hard time going against a track-record in the league vs 4 games to start a season. I'm obviously not writing this opinion in pen, and I could have a different opinion by June.

this but we need to see more then one season out of Hughes to even vote. But for now it’s obviously ep
I mean, if Hughes somehow put up 60 points(extremely doubtful, yes) and EP only managed to put up around 40 it may make me think.

The hypothetical situations are pointless though.

Yeah it’s why we need more time before this
Question can be answer but opinions are fine I guess...
