Pretty clear he hasn't watched many games, just clicked through some standings and stats. Absolutely a premature judgement.

He also buries Lehner's injury at the end, although one could easily argue that's been a large contributing factor to their record.

The article isn't all doom and gloom and he makes a good point at the end:

Their futures should be bright. But in the immediate future, Buffalo needs to look to its veterans to help out, and that remains a question mark nearly 40 games into the season.

I think he correct with this point. A lot of the vets on this team have been brutal. That along with the complete lack of scoring from the bottom 6 is a big reason why they are where they are.

Not really anything earth shaking there. We know they aren't improved in the standings, but their goal differential is considerably better than last year (looking at an 80 goal swing). We also know vets aren't carrying their weight -- Gionta most of the year, Moulson, Gorges all have struggled.

I should write an article on a common sense topic too and get tons of clicks. It doesn't take a rocket scientist in hockey analysis to realize that Buffalo needs more from their vets or just new vets who can help win.

Don't agree with bringing up ROR's name as someone who can't help the team win.

But he isn't. I think pointing to any single player and saying they can't help us win is not really correct. ROR is one piece that will help this team win but no one player can win a stanley cup. You need a complete team or Pittsburgh would have more then one cup with Crosby and Malkin.

Also on top of that Reinhart and Eichel will be different players in 2 or 3 years.

Clickbait-y title that basically says that the youth aren't producing enough on their own yet and so the team is still dependent on the vets. No ****.

The Vets besides ROR have completely failed. Bogo is a shell of the player he showed last year. Moulson and Ennis Haven a disgrace! Foligno needs to be moved out. It's time for the vets to step up or move out!

No playoffs weren't expected but sitting in last again wasn't either!

The article's obviously clickbait-ish and a bit no-duh, yet still Murray's going to have "hit" on some secondary/tertiary players soon here, as the ones we're looking to phase out and the others that are underwhelming clearly aren't cutting it .. they're more and more looking like "misses" outside of ROR, with Lehner yet to be determined.

You guys keep saying He but it's She. A female wrote this. (Not saying that matters, just pointing it out). She also seems very young so she probably doesn't remember the growing pains the Pens and Crosby went through. Crosby scored 100+ points as a rookie, and then they got the #2 pick (and made a huge mistake by taking Staal). But imagine if they took Toews or Backstrom instead. You add Toews or Backstrom to Crosby and Malkin and they without a doubt have multiple cups. That's why we can do the same, Eichel can have a great rookie season, we can still suck and end up with a top 2-3 pick and add another stud.

Bogo, Ennis and Kane injuries set the whole team back too. We are waiting for lots of young guys to develop and with the vets faltering, there is way more pressure on the young guys.

I look at FL and compare their vets to our vets and I like what they did there. You swap out Jagr, Mitchell, Campbell and Luongo on to this roster for Gionta/Ennis, Legwand, Franson and Johnson, and we are having a very different conversation. But that isn't how Murray is building this team.
