I wonder what he weighs in at now. Maple Leafs website has him at 173, OHL has him at 191, and EliteProspects has him at 185. He still has room to grow into that 210lb frame it'll take him to become a physical force in the NHL. Same with JvR, he has room to fill out. Leivo is one my favourite prospects too but hes still a few years away from the player we want him to be.

Not statistically.

2011-12 - 66 games 32 goals 41 assists 73 points (with Sudbury)

2012-13 - 65 games 29 goals 44 assists 73 points (with Sudbury & Kitchener)

Difference is bud that Leivo was centered by Sgarbossa last year who detroyed the OHL, and a lot of people accredited Leivo's success as a result of playing alongside Sgarbossa.

This year, he did it all on his own.

he reminds me a bit of Rich Peverley.

huh, that might be a dang good comparison, actually.

they do have similar all around skillsets and actually look similar on the ice. I also think Leivo projects to a similar level as that - a very good 3rd liner borderline 2nd liner.

I wouldn't get too excited over him though, he's a good prospect but he has a long way to go from here. Maybe bigger but he's not as talented as Dale Mitchell was at this stage, and look at how he panned out.

huh, now you lost me.

Dale Mitchell was not as good Leivo has been since draft day. Mitchell was always a garbage goal player, and was much more limited by his lack of size and skating ability than Leivo.

I liked him more in Kitchener. His Marlies stint this year was a bit underwhelming, but that's expected.

He's the new McKegg.

He's the new McKegg.

Kitchener had a stacked team boasting 3 former 1st round draft picks alone in Puempel, Faska and dman Murphy.

So the focus was not on Leivo but on other more gifted offensive teammates.

Leivo reminds me a lot of Jamie Benn. Physical, rangy, good straight line skater. Leivo is way more talented than Mckegg... Mckegg was a poor skater coming out of jr and that still the weakness in his game.

This will be a big year for Leivo... He's looked good with the marlies so far. Definitely needs to put more weight on his frame this summer.
