It is not something that the isles would do. While the isles have promising blueline prospects, they have no one with the upside of a #1C besides Barzal.
I agree you just said the players the islanders would be able to move and I said barzal would prob make the trade happen cuz he's worth more than trouba

isles have several pieces worth more than 2 seasons of trouba, which is why hes of little realistic interest to us, Eklund isnt a valid source and Jets fans like Sens fans before them are grasping at straws trying to get our prospects to solve their issues. nothing to see here so move on

Grabbing Trouba won't make them a contender. Why not just tank for a couple years and build assets tourself

No thanks. Not interested in a guy looking to get to UFA status as fast as possible. Nylander long term > two years of Trouba

Lol no way
Trouba makes the leafs way better than whatever nylander does for the leafs

If leafs fans wanna talk shit about how good they are and how theyre real "contenders" now
Then a player like is absolutely something leafs need

Trouba gives winnipeg the edge more than what nylander does for the leafs

Stupid if true. Isles should be focused on rebuilding.
Yeah cause at 24 yrs old, Trouba is an aging D:sarcasm:

The problem for the isles is not Trouba's age,but his quickly approaching ufa status .

Cannot give up top prospects for only 2 seasons of Trouba .

Given that Trouba is signed for a year probably best to close this. As I state every time I talk of any potential trade, any trade for Trouba would need a contract extension attached to it

So by your logic 2 years of Trouba > 10 years of Nylander?

Youre using a weird way to put value on players

Im saying the leafs with trouba for rhe next 2 years > the leafs with nylander for the nexr 2 years

Yes but in 2 years Trouba is likely to walk while Nylander is gonna hit his prime.

Im not saying a straight up 1 for 1 trade would work because of troubas 2 years left of rfa, but the leafs would be better on paper

The ask for Hall was "you're not getting Hall at all, we're only trading him for Subban/Doughty/Karlsson level defensemen and you don't have one".

In retrospect, the fans who said that were smarter than Chia.
Still don't get why Edmonton and Montreal didn't just swap P.K and Hall.

Nothing against him just isles are not at a place that they should trade a lot for him

Didn't you know, he's a number 1 d now that he has a 1 year contract. Before, he's not work 5.5, he is inconstant and not playing well, wants to leave. Thats ok, now he's signed, we want McDavid for our number "1" d lol.

according to winnipeg fans Troubas GF has set up shop in Florida, why would anyone set themselves up for a Tavares style situation with Trouba?(all credit to ducky for filling us in)

Seriously there are still people that don't know the background behind this yet? Trouba's finace is in med school in the US. Not able to transfer to a Canadian school. Trouba's dad has legal issues that prevent (limit) his ability to enter Canada. Thus, he (evidently) would prefer a US based team. It is not a knock on the city. No Canadian city can solve his 2 concerns.

Presumably enough money would make it ok but the Jets can't overpay. Too many talented players to sign.

I was hoping they could work out a deal but it seems unlikely. This will be a tough trade for Chevy to do well in. Hoping for a top D prospect and something

Tavares said Hundreds of times " I WANT TO BE AN ISLANDER" so we know Trouba has that part of the script down

if the jets were smart theyd sign pending free agent Tyler Myers right quick before their defense is decimated. and since his GF is in florida, why would anyone but the Lightning or panthers be willing to trade for him

Exactly, it's not just about age. It doesn't make sense to build your d around someone who you can keep for a year or two max without an extension. Yeah, maybe he'll extend there, but maybe not, they're not in a great place right now.

And even in terms of age, 24 isn't old, but if you're rebuilding, which they should be, why not get assets who are as young as possible and who have contracts you can control for as long as possible?
