Same thing was said about Josh Bailey.....and I completely disagree with your assessment (minus documentation) as I don't think MDC has a passion issue at all. Like another poster said, he's just not a good enough skater to put the hands he has to work. He can pave his way as a grinding third liner at this point. He could be a Raffi Torres minus the lack of judgment and violence.

I don't like chipping in on MDC subthreads in here, because it detracts from good conversation about other prospects, but I feel MDC is simply a streaky player who depends on his one timer to score and doesn't have a great wrist shot. At the NHL level it's very hard to score on just one timer alone. That said, he is getting to the net and being a body, screening the goalie. I think he reminds me of Eric Fehr of the Capitals who also never quite panned out but still was a good role player.

About Salo ,he has playd 2 games in Sweden with -4(two losses, one game to OT). If You look at the stats he is first in Liiga with 23.28 TOI/game and second in SHL with 24.22.

Bolduc was a solid and very quiet pickup for this team. I still hope Salo can make it over to NA some time in the future. Also, a very good pick that flies under the radar.
I think Bolduc can be a Mayfield type player for the Isles. Love his size and he's a good skater with SOME offensive ability as well.

I keep holding on to one thing, that Igor Eronko seems to know the Sorokin situation better than anyone over there.
He seems to be pretty connected and he usually talks (writes) like he is not just guessing but knows the situation first hand. Contrary to some of these canadian "insiders" who just throws their ideas out there to get clicks and reads.
I dunno. Hope he is right, and until proven otherwise Im trusting Eronko with everything KHL.

Reece Newkirk was 1+1 and second star of the game as Portland became the first team in the WHL this season with 40 wins. I'd love if we could draft his teammate Seth Jarvis.

Salo:
I'd say it's 50/50 that he's in Bridgeport next season.
I'd say it's 100% that he's in North America the season thereafter.

Sorokin:
No worries, people. It's a special situation, because the kid quite simply can earn a good bit more in the KHL right now that he would in signing an ELC (which could theoretically happen as a 1-year deal to the end of this season in order to burn it off and open up the option of giving him a much better contract this summer). But Lou isn't trading him, Sorokin certainly isn't demanding that, and well, the Varlamov signing was all about Sorokin starting his career as an Islander at the latest next fall.

And it's a good thing, because he's basically the best goalie on the planet outside of the NHL.

Chapin, is it my imagination or have you been absent for a little from the list? I don't recall any recent posts from you...although I guess I could check. :)

Looks like Holmstrom's been picking it up lately. Any observations from anyone who consistently watches him, other than me who really just watches highlights and stats? Injury looks to be behind him and is producing in the AHL after being drafted. Pleasantly surprised!
