Just an FYI on Iskhakov. He was not injured this year he missed a couple of games because he was sick. He also had a nice goal and really nice assist last weekend.
No surprise. Iskhakov is indeed not invited to the Russian final camp.
Speaking of Iskhakov, apparently his chances of being part of the Russian team (for the next WJC) are almost nil. Because he plays in the NCAA, Bragin, the Russian coach, does not know much about him and doesnt have the chance to see him play.
Or maybe, just maybe, he's not that good. This is his 3rd chance to make the team, and didn't make it. He did pretty well at the U18's, so Bragin knows who he is and what he can do.Speaking of Iskhakov, apparently his chances of being part of the Russian team (for the next WJC) are almost nil. To my knowledge, the last time Bragin coached the u18 was in 2015. He probably never coached Iskhakov. Also, I would point out to you, that no NCAA player has been retained and that in Iskhakov's own team (U. of Connecticut) there are other Russians who are also promising who have been ignored (Vladislav Firstov, Minnesota Wild 2nd round pick in 2019, Yan Kuznetsov, eligible for the next entry draft).Or maybe, just maybe, he's not that good. interesting no mention of Wilde
I do too.Wilde seems to be persona non grata with Team USA over the last couple of years. Whatever.
Wahlstrom has a pretty good shot at wearing a letter. I hope Lou sends him.

He even played in an American City in the OHL. That shouId lessening his punishment. I can't see a big bodied PP specialist only 19 playing against men in The AHL does not get an invite. It would be tremendous for his development and confidence.
When all the prospects are not playing well, it's a system thing or coaching thing. If it's one or two players, then I get it, but I don't think it's that at all.
Look at what happened to us. We were a meh team and on paper we are very MEH. Thompson is gone by the new year. This can't continue. He's affecting all the players negatively.
Does replacing a coach - with no real replacement available - during the season make sense? Seems to me that if the team thinks a change is warranted, might as well make it in the offseason, make the full scale changes the team wants at one time. If dropping Thompson midseason would be helpful, I'm all for it. I'm not sure how that helps our prospects' development though. When all the prospects are not playing well, it's a system thing or coaching thing. It’s almost as if folks around here can’t complain about the big club so they set their sights on firing Thompson instead of looking at the big picture. To be fair to Thompson I think this is the most man games lost to injury that Bridgeport has ever had, and Worcester is a mess also so there isn't a decent ECHL pool to dip into for replacements.
interesting. Was reported that Sorokin informed them he intends to play in the NHL next year. Maybe they’re hopping the money changes his mind.

7. There are reports out of Russia that CSKA Moscow is trying to extend Islanders goalie prospect Ilya Sorokin. Tough to say if this is legit or a negotiating tactic, but he will be 25 in August. If the extension is at least three years, he becomes an unrestricted free agent in North America.
