Yikes. That’s horrible

Probably not as horrible as trade offers for MDC that Snow might have turned down a few years ago. Or, wasn't MDC taken with the pick we could have given up to Buffalo but instead we gave them the next year's pick?

Big Wilde and Jenkins fan the Saginaw Spirit are rated top 10 in the CHL. Without Wilde, Jenkins, Everett and Prosvetov and beating SSM the number 1team in the nation for most of last year. 5-2 and will look better when the young guys on NYI are going to be part of a huge season. DEVELOPMENT on a solid club with ample picks and prospects.

I know his totals are better than those three, but I'd add Strome to that list as well. Another 5th overall pick who seems to have ended up more as a 3rd line center than someone you can help build a team around.

I think I made the Sam Gagner comparison way back when about Strome. One or two of you might have yelled at me for that comparison at the time(probably just the meanie @PWJunior). :sarcasm:

It's the problem with prospects. The next one is always the one you need and it's going to make you forget about what you have right now, until they don't. :shakehead

I think that's the lesson about penciling in prospects as guaranteed to improve your roster, expecting them to pan out as elite players just because they were picked high or because they put up numbers in junior/college.

And to think MDC was considered the "safe pick" in that draft...

I fought with Sens fans saying that Strome would be better than Spezza. How do you think I feel?

We really just threw away a slew of top5 picks.

All these busts being mentioned. Were they busts from the moment we drafted or did the isles player development really let them down.

Personally I was high on both Strome and MDC. Never got the Reinhart hype.

I think Reinhart was the only one that no development system could have helped. He's just slow. If he has Toews speed..he'd be a number 1 easy..high IQ, size..no mean streak though, but he can learn that.

Out of all of them..I think they really screwed up MDC. well..it's a two sided story there. MDC should have worked on his speed and acceleration instead of size and weight.

Strome..I think it has to do with maturity..nothing to do with skill. Strome was let down as well..he needed better leadership.

Skarek looking good early on. Nice to have another goalie in the pipeline with real starting potential.

Plus I love the fact that he made it his business to be here to workout with the isles and Mitch Korn.

Also, he signed his ELC already so that should show you what the isles think of him.
