Is there any argument for Drai > McD like before there was Geno > Sid

Flame shields on. I am not saying Drai > McDavid. Just asking if a person can make the argument that Draisaitl is the better player in the way that some said Malkin is better than Sid. Or is it not comparable at all.

Now that Drai is leading league in pts. Malkin overtook Sid many times though infrequently.

No, because Draisaitl couldn't exist without McDavid.

Malkin and Crosby were always separated.

Not always no. Stacking Crosby and Malkin was a goto strategy in the early days. Its still early days in Edmonton with McDrai.

No. Draisaitl is a phenomenal talent, but is there anyone here honestly that would pick Draisaitl over Mcdavid? Is there a single particle in the entire universe that would say "Yeah, gimme Draisaitl."

Peak Malkin was borderline generational. Draisaitl is simply elite.

14 games doesn't negate all the games prior, but I hope Drai's amazing play is pushing and motivating McD to be better. The champ wants to retain the title.

Draisaitl is really a 1B to McDavid. He’s better than McDavid in a lot of areas like two-way play, face offs, and arguably goal scoring.

There are a lot of games where McDavid is quietly putting up points where Drai is outright dominant.

That being said. Connor is Connor. He can do things that nobody else can. He’s turned Norris winners into pylons. It’s not just his speed, he’s insanely smart.

They complement eachother extremely well in a way Sid and Geno never could.

The only two players to put up 50 + 50 seasons this decade are Malkin and Drai.

Draisaitl is even better than he was last year this year.

McDavid needs Draisaitl just as much as Draisaitl needs McDavid.

They feed off of each other, without the vision of McDavid Draisaitl wouldn't be as good. He doesn't have the individual skills like Malkin to drive his own line
This is heavily influenced by recency bias, Draisaitl has benefitted amore from the McDrai arrangement than McDavid has over their careers. Draisaitl has just been better over a 14 game stretch against a post PCL tear McDavid

Malkin was actually the best player in the league without the benefit of playing with Crosby. He also has seasons he was better than Crosby. Draisaitl has never been the best player in the league and he's never been better than McDavid for a season. 15 games doesn't prove anything.

Save this conversation for when Draisaitl has at least one full season as the best player in the world backed up by an Art Ross and Hart trophy.

Even then, people would be very reluctant to declare him better, but as of right now it’s just insulting to McDavid to suggest it.

The argument started when Malkin dominated when Crosby went down in 07-08 and he followed it up in 08-09 with 113 points with Fedotenko and Talbot as wingers en route to the Art Ross and back to back 2nd in Hart voting... then 36 points and a Conn Smythe + Cup those playoffs. Drai has an argument when he wins an individual trophy.... MINIMUM.

Well, wonder if Ovi's argument for G > A can be applied, and if 50 goals 105 points is better than 116 P but only 41 G

Drai is a much better goal scorer and I'd say a better passer too. Mcdavid has unbelievable speed and game breaking ability. Not a dumb idea for a thread I mean Mcdavid is the guy you want but there is definitely games where Drai is the more effective player.

Different situation than OV because Draisaitl wasn't even the best player on his own line, proven by hart voting, Lindsay voting, etc.
