Unless something changed it sounded like we were waiting for the doctor out of Cleveland's clearance. No matter what I expect it to be viewed as rushing because we have so many doctors in here.

Good to hear! And you're right, there's a lot of "professionals"

He would had to have been cleared by his specialist in Cleveland before his 'no-contact' jersey came off. This is an insurance requirement.

I'm fairly certain that he has been 'medically' cleared for play since training camp, with the wait due to the amount of training time he has missed, in regards to his upper body and shoulder.

That should be our top 6. I hope Eakins understands Smyth is nothing but a liability.

While it would be fantastic if RNH is back in only a few more games, they better be freaking sure that he is 100% healthy.

They just signed him to a 7 year extension - I'm pretty sure they would be 100% sure before getting him to play.

As was Yak on the left side. Leave him on the right.

Joensuu/Smyth-Hall-Hemsky
Perron-RNH-Eberle
Smyth/Joensuu-Gordon-Yakupov

I'm actually kind of in favor of leaving Smyth on the top line until Joensuu shows that he is defensively reliable. We know that the play can die on Smyth's stick, but we also know that he's one of our smarter players, and Hall (a first year center) and Hemsky (defensively slack) needs someone okay defensively on their wing. Not sure if Joensuu has shown that he can be that guy or not yet.

Hemsky is arguably better defensively than Smyth is at this point in their careers. Sure, Hemmer is no Selke candidate, but Smyth is quite frankly too slow and not strong enough to take advantage of his decent defensive awareness.

There's a reason that Smyth looks better on the 5-on-3 than defending 5-on-5, he doesn't have to skate. Same issue that Peckham used to have.

Oh christ, I hope not. If RNH is healthy then get Hall back on LW on the first line.

yeah, i sure hope that once RNH comes back they move hall back to LW.... having only one center injured (with arcobello the likely replacement) is livable in the short term until gagner comes back.... hall/RNH/eberle and perron/arcobello/yakupov creates two lines that are very hard to defend against, and joensuu/gordon/hemsky is a serviceable 3rd line... maybe you put joensuu on the 2nd line and move perron down to the 3rd line, but you get the idea

hall back to LW can't happen fast enough

They were using Hall at center when Gagner was healthy, so why would they move him when RNH comes back?

Honestly, I don't think Arcobello's been as bad as people make him out to be. Until Gags is back, I'd be fine with a top 9 of

Hall - Nuge - Hemsky
Perron - Arcobello - Eberle
Joensuu - Gordon - Yakupov

Totally agree. It helps us in two ways. Hall back in his original position, and smyth out of the top 9. God that would be great.

This is what I'd like to see too.

The only issue with this is that it would force one of Smyth or Gazdic out of the lineup and I can't see the Oilers scratching Smyth. I really liked Gazdic in the opener and would hate to see him get bumped out of the lineup for Smyth. There's no doubt in my mind Gazdic is a better option for a fourth line winger.

Ya, it's nice to put them in a position to succeed

We could always go back to Smyth as the 4th line C, and bump Acton out
