The big markets did take the small market teams entry fees to allow them in the league. If they did not want to have to "prop them up", they should never have let them in.

Amen to that, but arguing with someone who says things like "Buffalo is indifferent" and "Do they even know they have teams in Florida" is not worth your time.

Is there another source besides Forbes and the Levitt numbers? I've only seen those two. Forbes is the more generous, giving the Canucks a 1.3 million operating income and leaving Carolina with -18.2. Are there other reports? I figure the more the better.. maybe the average will be somewhat accurate.

The Canucks have made that money, but not the Team? An interesting distinction eh. Not all the revenue flows of the Canucks, are team related. The team gets a lower set of books from which to negotiate salaries as a percentage of Canuck revenues. When they are selling the team, and have multiple bidders in process, the Canuck revenues are announced. When negotiating salaries, Levitt uses the lower team revenues. It is a fair way of representing revenues when being partners with the players, but is not the one used when being partners with another owner.
