Only 10 players that played in the NHL this past season (4 under the age of 27 with 3 of those playing under 10 games). Only 6 players that played in the KHL (1 under age 27) with HC Slovan Bratislava no longer a part of that League, and only 11 players that played in the AHL (with lots of crossover to the NHL in that regard), only 3 players that played in SHL (1 under age 27) and only 8 players that played in SM-Liiga.

Slightly odd timing considering it is now clear looking at their prospect pool Slovak hockey is going to bounce back to some degree relatively soon but yes, they have been on the decline for years.

Dead is a huge exaggeration however since it still has a lot of potential energy. Russia is at the point where it has two solid NHL centers and the younger one of those is 29. Is its hockey dead?

Look how many players we had in NHL in 1992/1993? Or 1993/1994? And that was the time, when the now very often glorified Czechoslovakia hockey school should produce many many stars.

No, ice-hockey in Slovakia is not dead. It will never die. Its impossible. It has maybe his weak periods of time, maybe also very dark periods, but im sure it will return.
