Speculation: Is "Light the Lamp" harmless fun, or insidious advertisement?

I disagree. They are completely off base with this. They’ve been doing “who’s your Tiger” or “who ya got” in OT games or any other million things. Is Tony Romo “supporting sports betting” when he riffs on what the offense is going to do in a certain formation (because you can bet on run/pass or whatnot) or is he injecting some life into the broadcast with his knowledge.

Light the lamp has NOTHING to do with sports betting. They were doing it at a minimum back when Patrick Eaves was here because I remember them picking him a game or two. (Or at least the radio broadcast did with Ken Kal for sure) It’s not driven by Ballys in any meaningful way

I think the overall messaging he's conveying is correct. There is a direct financial incentive for these broadcasts to make gambling a fun activity.

I don't think this particular segment is targeted to that goal, for the reasons you stated. It's more like a happy coincidence for the folks at Bally and Draft Kings.

That's a good point, there are certainly a lot of worse examples.

Let's just burn it all down.

Governments in the EU are cracking down on these behaviors more than other regions. Which ultimately helps everyone, fortunately, as they concessions these companies make are typically global rather than regional.

But it's still a process for sure. Anyone who is into the new EA sports games will tell you how much those are about card packs and gambling now as much as any annual refinement of gameplay.

I think I've been the most vocal adversary to light the lamp on here. I've actually lightened up a bit on it, but still think it's dumb and don't care about it. It IS harmless fun for the crew and some viewers.

But, obviously, it's insidious advertising, John says "Ram light the lamp" every time for a reason. It started when fox was still broadcaster at fsd so I don't think it's a calculated effort by Bally's, but they seem to push it more.

A) I think the pure gambling stuff is trashy. Would not miss it, but, as has been said, given the sponsor/ownership, it's gonna stay.

5) I like LtL. It's silly. They've been doing it for, what, at least 5 years now, right? No one takes it seriously - Ozzie always takes the goalie even when... the best Wings goalie that night is going to be Lady Luck. I like the banter. I like the fact that Mickey clearly thinks it's dumb and never pays attention. I like the fact that Kenny D had his dog picking for him last season.

Is Riders still a game store in A2?) I think the Mineaux chick has improved a lot behind the desk.

bourbon) the prospect of doing a full 82 games of Plausible Keats is daunting enough. I'm not adding Plausible Lamp. :) I would just end up doing a schtick of "Plausible Lamp takes the team again." for 82 games. Not funny.

How many days till exhibition?

-dale (Yes, I've collected all my Plausible Keatses into a spreadsheet. Yikes.)

I figured they were doing these gimmicks because the team sucks. Just an ill conceived attempt at entertainment much like their Vegas casino. Seems some of you guys have never been to Vegas if you didn't know Bally's did gambling.

Anyways, they should get rid of it. On an unrelated topic, they should also let Trevor do more games.

If Bally's was behind LtL, I think they'd be advertising it. It'd be the Bally's LtL lol. They'd have Vegas odds, and the gang would place actual bets using their own money.

I pay no attention to it but it is harmless compared to the game long ads to actually gamble.
