Is Kasperi Kapanen a top 6 player or is he a bust as was claimed by HFers?

    10 GP
    5 goals
    4 assists
    9 points.

Is he proving his haters who claimed he was a bust wrong? Had a spectacular game today (GWG) with Matthews out which is dispelling the idea that he's being carried by Auston.

No he's not... He's not the first bottom-6 player to get a hot streak and won't be the last one.

Last 2 goals without Matthews assisting in fact

He's a middle six players now let's see how he finishes the season out before saying he's a top 6 player.

He should be a good bottom 6 player, who can fill in on one of the top two lines, when needed.

Wish middle 6 was an option...if he keeps a healthy portion of this pace up the full season id call him top 6, but with only 10 games this season and his previous book of work I still gotta go with bottom 6 (since middle isnt an option).

Question for Leafs fans: As someone with Kapanen on his fantasy team, is there a reason why he's never on the PP?

It's because they want to save him in case they need him for PK. He's one of our better PKers.

TBH... we question why he can't do both, no one understands Babcock. He's not even on the 2nd unit let alone the first

I said entering the year he could be a competent complimentary player on a 1st line. He's shown that this year, actually being the 2nd best player on those lines. He has his flaws, and is far from perfect, but he can be a top 6 player. Now, will he ever be a top 6 line driver? Highly, unlikely. But, he plays a role that can allow him to be an effective top 6 player. To be honest though, top 6 is a pretty outdated term, atleast how it is used. Most teams try to match power with power. Its generally a top 9 at this point, or a stacked top line and a middle six.

If he was on any other team he’d be looked of as a significant piece breaking out and would get a lot more acclaim on here. Kid has elite speed and now that his finishing is coming along he’ll be able to bag points to show it.

He's definitely breaking out and putting himself in the top 5 Finnish forwards, very complete game and brings it consistently every night.

Middle 6 right now imo that quite possibly will turn into a top 6 guy this season if he keeps this up

I love the way this post is framed. If he's not a top 6 forward then he's clearly a bust. But look at the near PPG pace. You'd have to be an idiot to say bust, idiot.

Like...we're all on board that he's performing like a top 6 (well...most of us) but this post is overflowing with agenda.

Top is closer to the middle than to the bottom
