Is Jussi Jokinen going to go down in history as the shootout king?

TJ Oshie might be the more topical pick, since his Olympic heroics. But Jussi Jokinen has been elite at shootouts consistently for almost a decade. Plus he has the winning goal in the longest shootout in history.

Last I checked shootout win still gives you an extra point so it might matter more than you think. You are welcome to double check that.

Its a gimmick that does not belong.

Good for Jussi at being so useful in what is a glorified skills competition. My hats off to him...

Anyone who has watched Jokinen knows he's been pretty bad at shootouts for 2 or 3 years now. His only moves are the Forsberg and the move where he comes in from the right and shoots left. So predictable.

Shootouts are a joke so I don't think it much matters.
Points matter no matter what your opinion is on shootouts.

Back to the thread - isn't Nielsen the best shooter statistically? I'm not sure but would think so.

Nielsen and Oshie are the best with their 50+ shooting percentage. Jokinen is around the middle with plenty of others. He was good when the shootout came into the league, but as usual, his reputation as a shootout specialist has stuck around even when there is no reason to consider him to be one.

Mikko Koivu and Zach Parise are among the top as well, their % is nowadays most likely better than Jokinens.

Nope. He wouldn't even be #1 in Finland's shootout lineup if everyone was available. He's good, but not that good.

I'm saying yes, shootouts were exciting when they were first introduced there was alot of hype and Jussi Jokinen just couldn't be stopped, I don't even care to see who's doing well in shootouts now or anymore as the novelty of them has wore off from.

If im not mistaken Tyler Bozak has the highest shooting % amongst active players with greater then 20 attempts. It remains to be seen how long he can keep it up.

Nielsen. Only needs one goal to be tied for the all time lead in shootout goals, and is almost 60%.

In fact there are 12 players with at least 30 career shootout goals, and only one is above 50%. His name is Frans Nielsen.
