This is a **** show....this is exactly the stuff Edmonton has gone through in the last bunch of years.

Upper management saving face for bad decisions and playing games to appease non-hockey rich owners. This is just a mess...and we'll see the owners kids grow up on the draft stage year after year with the nicely sewn nameplate of the next high pick that'll turn the franchise around.
Coming full circle as a Mickey Mouse operation.

Weird how the people who already disliked the current management are willing to write off the entire season and future based on 6 games.

It's bad now. It is going to get better, one way or another. This franchise is nowhere close to Edmonton.

Ray had a weird feel in that interview.

Seems like he may have learned a thing or two he didn't see coming, red flags in the ranks.

He knows coaching is substandard I'm sure but there's more feeding into the dysfunction.

Something is rotten in Newark, guess we'll see but it feels like he heard some things he didn't expect.

There’s a small contingent of posters that keep repeating this misrepresentation of how we feel, despite multiple explanations that it is not at all based on just six games. I have to assume that you’re doing it on purpose at this point.

Maybe Hynes was trying to give more PT to the newer players instead of just balancing out the Ice time?

Just trying to make heads or tails of Hynes rationale.....

I thought maybe it was because he didn't get a lot of special teams time, but the only two forwards who have averaged less even strength time per game are Rooney and Hayden. And while Bratt isn't exactly great defensively it's not like he's a black hole that has to be protected. It's just weird.

Devils best hope is that Minnesota continues to struggle and Boudreau is fired.

If we hire a new coach, we need someone who fits what Shero has been building. Someone like Boucher doesn't. Boudreau consistently manages to get his teams into the players by adapting to the line-ups he has and has done so with offensively skilled teams in Washington.

I think I said it earlier, but I'd love to see Boudreau-Stevens replace Hynes-Nasreddine

I would imagine he will be fired in the offseason if nothing else.

Even if both teams turn around enough to save their coaches job mid-season, it doesn’t mean either guy is safe as both the Devils and Wild should end up performing below preseason expectations no matter what.

Long story short. I suspect Boudreau would be available in the offseason at worst. I am also 90% sure Hynes will not be coaching this team next season.

Boudreau's contract ends after this season so if he doesn't extend he'll be available in the offseason.
He and Keefe would be my top 2 options for the Devils in the offseason if the Devils don't make the playoffs

I would be fine with that too, but at this point I think the plan is to have Fitz coach the team the rest of the season.

That's because you - and it's certainly less you than Aethon, but you guys have been high-fiving a lot lately - have misrepresented the Devils' position on these things, as if the plan for the last 4 years could've realistically been anything other than being generally not a good team.

I think Hynes was look at as the possible “next best coach”. He essentially was a rookie AHL coach with strong attributes in player development. He got lucky in 2017 and things looked great but there is a reason he did coaching gigs outside of the NHL (Worlds). It was supposed to help him develop as a better coach. Furthermore, you can’t pin it all on Hynes, it looks like a full on mutiny at this point. I am not saying the new guys are cancer, but maybe they don’t buy in. Remember, Shero/Hynes flew out to to see Hall at his house in the offseason and had a heart to heart, because he he played like turds his first season here.

"....get his teams.....into the....players...???" :laugh::laugh::laugh:

BTW, I don't know how I'd feel in having Santa Claus (Hi, @Bleedred !) as Head Coach.

Shero in his interview sounds very fruatrated and confused as to why they are playing like crap . He talks in circles almost like he is trying to figure it out as he answers questions .
More or less he was saying , to paraphrase - “I don’t understand why the F@#£ we are as bad as we have been , we have good players and it’s not like other teams have new players in their lineup ... you can’t go 0/xx on the power play and expect to win , good players are making horrible decisions , can’t clear pucks , trying to beat guys at our blue line “

I thought it was a jab at the coaching staff when Shero said that other teams bring in new players and don’t have this problem ....
It’s almost like they forgot how to play hockey .
Exactly how the team looked during the Johnny Mac coaching days
Lemaire even said as such when he took over. It was almost like they all forgot how to play. Everything is all cluster f@#%/‘d up and players are confused that nothing works and confidence is trashed

The more I listen to the Shero interview the more it seems like he is very frustrated and is tying to figure out who to hold accountable , Coaching staff or the players . And if it’s the players, why ? Is it that they don’t like or understand the system or ???
He didn’t want to or believe in giving Hynes a vote of confidence , and seemed to be trying to come up with reasons as to why everyone is looking like crap.

I think IF you don't understand the system, or don't buy into it that's exactly what happens. You don't know where to be, where to go, what to do, and where your teammates are, leading to bad decisions. Having to THINK about what the coaches want you to do is enough at this level to make you hesitate enough to look like an idiot.

If Shero was solely putting blame on the players Fitz wouldn’t be down there relaying information to him, Hynes would be doing that and thats all Shero would need if he trusts the coaches. Fitz is down there because Shero knows this is a coaching issue as well.

Hopefully the players are honest and tell Fitz something along the lines of “ hey I’m trying my ass off and listen to exactly what the coaching staff tells me to do but it doesn’t work for s@#t.

If it is an ugly loss to the Rangers I don’t see how Shero doesn’t pull the plug on Hynes and Co. shortly after.
It will be a huge loss both in the standings and for the fans and pride of the team and I don’t think a quick turn around in play will happen with the existing coaching staff then.

Shero HAS to see that current “system” is not working and is trying to figure out why before he lets Hynes go and replaces him with someone that can fix the “why” nothing is working so far.

Watching the oil flyers game and they just mentioned the thing with Fitz today, started when they talked about us looking for our first win and the game tomorrow night

"unorthodox move" I think is how they started off talking about it, which it is

What impact players did he develop for Pitt? Outside of role players in Doumilin & Rust I cant think of any. Sprong was supposed to be a great prospect for them he was waived by the ducks.

Seriously?!?!? This is what we get?

This is like when the Chinese send a "helper" from the government to "work" at your company.

I'm so sick of all this.

I think I'm limiting my HFBoards use to the TAN and GDTs until Hynes is gone. It's not worth the aggravation discussing the fact this horrendous coach with no knowledge of defensive hockey is still employed by the Devils.

We'll miss you, BG.

Hopefully you'll get your wish sooner rather than later.
