Speculation: is Ekblad available?

But do you really want to fall into the same mistake of having 2 first line centers that are being paid as such like Toronto is currently going through?
Issue is cap-space: JT and AM are signed 22.6; for the next two seasons Barky+AM=17.5M. That's a good second line wing difference :)

Our top C prospects are Logan Brown and Josh Norris. I would rate Batherson above both which is why I put him up.

I think it would be incredible to have Chabot/Ekblad top pairing, I would understand why Florida would want to keep him above all else.

I think it'd be just as incredible to have Bot and Blad in FLA as well. :)
Just dont see a new GM trading his only legit top pair D on the team.
Weegar showed he can play top pair with Ekblad but had some injuries.
Both were pacing their best years to date.

OTT will be fine without Ekblad, really been pumping OTTs tires lately, love the prospects on their way.

TOR would be the last team I'd hope our new GM trades him to.
You dont trade prime aged RD with 5 years left. Unless it's for a Matthews type player aka an overpay

1. should consider value of self rental retained production vs market return
2. market return would be top dollar and selling high should not be dismissed
3. Matthews would not happen. Conceivable packages, but Matthews not clear as a return.
4. Marner should be rejected UNLESS at a hair under 11 Leafs eat almost 4 reducing him to 7 for an extended term.
5. Leafs want RD are in win now mode.
Stalman reduced 5+ to 4 + Ekblad full pop + Panthers + Avalanche 2020 3rds
for
Marner reduced to 7 + Liljigren + Pens 2020 1st

something like that.

Also, if 5OA is on the table, FL should def grab it, esp if there is a +.
If you are hell bent on immediate help now, 5OA can buy a lot of immediate help.

Well something's gotta change. Florida is a perpetual disappointment as constructed.

Nah. Marner isn't it Bern.
We aren't trading Ekblad, that deals helps TOR more than it helps FLA
Enjoy your weekend though amigo

FLA definitely stays away from that deal.

I agree, but still we need to consider replacement cost: Replacing Ek is super expensive.

Marner is someone who could make sense if we could replace.

just to be clear, MM in a vacuum full pop is a no, for both $ and position and other reasons

MM reduced to 7 + other aspects of a package, that was my pt.

Again, if OTT fans good w/5OA +, I am there all day long.

Most people are. It's just what we would take for our asset :)

Young talent like Ekblad who is happy and team controlled are only really traded in hockey trades (usually 1:1) that makes the trading team presumably better. Given Florida's dearth of D..

None of that makes him worth Auston Matthews. Which he is not.

after that condescending "letter" to other fans, I was expecting a more intelligent post.

Ekblad is staying in the FLA sun, maybe Chabot and 5OA for Huby could be a reality?
