If someone were to have dislocated their knee, and it wasn't set for 2-3 hours later, will the recovery time, and long term complications be worse, than if it had been set sooner? Like will the tendons and stuff be stretched worse? or does it not matter? And what kind of things can a person expect with a dislocated knee injury?

nah....they gave me lots of morphine....but the doctor didn't really talk to me at all...or if he did...I don't remember it at all, cause I had about a gallon of morphine running through me. But I didn't know if anyone had any experience with dislocations, and what I can expect to deal with. (cause the bum of a doctor sure didn't give me any information) I am going to see an orthepedic doctor next week....but I have never really been the patient type. (didn't mean that as a pun) So was just looking for whatever info I could find out.

Be prepared to be patient...

I tore my MCL a long long time ago, and it still hurts all the time.
It is really, really frusterating.

Good luck with that! Knees can be hard to heal. I know nothing about them but I have tweeked mine before and thought I would just deal with it myself, and it didn't stop feeling tweeky for 18 months, so your way ahead of the game if you listen to the specialist. Again Good Luck! and go for the Scotch went you get itchy when the moriphine withdrawls come.

I was actually in the same scenario a couple of months ago.

The doctor at the hospital misdiagnosed it as a sprain, and thinking it felt nothing like a sprain (which I've also had in the past), I went to my orthopedist a couple days later.

I had to do over a month of physical therapy and had the most painful bone bruise on the back of my kneecap.

I've been having minor wrist pain for about 10 days now. I don't know how it started, but normally I suck it up and stick these nagging injuries out. 10 days without improvement is too long for me, so I went to the clinic and the doc said I have tendonitis. Nothing serious, but 4-6 weeks to heal, and I have to wear a brace at work during that time. ****!

I hurt my elbow playing baseball. I nursed it for a couple years, enduring pain every throw. I finally got some physio. After an initial misdiagnosis, they got it right as tennis elbow. A month of therapy + a crazy arm band and my elbow was fine. Unfortunately, I hurt my shoulder compensating for the elbow. The cycle never ends.

If you dislocated your knee, it doesn't matter the amount of time it's dislocated so much as how much stress you put on your knee. If you sat in one place with your foot elevated I'd expect no difference.

So I saw the orthepedic surgeon, and he said it wasn't too good that it was left out long, he said the only thing in orthepedics that you don't wanna wait on is dislocations. Also, he was upset that they never did Xrays after resetting it, so he took more Xrays, and he found that when I dislocated it, there was so much force, it actually ripped a chunk of bone off. The prognosis is I have to keep it perfectly straight for a month, then start physical therepy three times a week. He also wanted me to come back for Xrays, but its during the same time as the WJC....and I just wasn't gonna miss that....
