I thought I would bring up the 2017-18 Group VI Free Agent Status matter. It seems to me the following players are potentially going to be UFA at the end of the year despite not having reached age 27 or seven accrued seasons.
This is because Group VI Free Agency status is accorded to players who reach age 25 or more, and have at least three professional seasons under their belt, but have not played 80 NHL games (28 games of 30+ minutes for goalies). I can't find an exception for playoff games, so I will assume they count, unless someone has contrary information to post.
As far as I know, this is the list for the Habs this year.
Kyle Baun will be UFA if he does not play 75 NHL games this year.
Daniel Carr will be UFA if he does not play 24 NHL games this year.
Joe Morrow will be UFA if he does not play 10 NHL games this year (15 if playoffs don't count)
