The wife and I will be enjoying the Sabres pummeling the Habs on Oct 9. Swing by to say hello, and grab a beer if you're so inclined. Section 111, Row 18, Seats 13, 14.

We'll be staying at a b-and-b in Allentown. Gabriel's Gate still good for wings? The online reviews are all over the place.

Any other local food recommendations? Fat Bob's and Allen Burger seem quite popular.

Gabe's Gate wings are great.

If you're walking, Fat Bob's is good. Allen Burger is also good (a little pricey for a burger IMO, but they have a bunch of options).

If you don't care about going downtown (only 2 miles away), Toutant and Osteria would be my recommendations for quality food.

Honestly if you came to Buffalo and only hit up Gabriel's Gate, Fat Bob's, and Allen Burger Venture I'd be inclined to say job well done.

Thanks, guys. Sounds like I'm not going far wrong.

We'll be driving down early from TO (visiting family), stopping at the Falls (I've seen them many times, but they're always worth a visit imho), and then on to Buffalo. We'll be walking, and taking the Metro from/to Fountain Plaza and Key Bank for the game. (Damn! I'll have to miss Celine Dion.)

Was hoping to visit the Albright-Knox, but it appears most of their collection is already stored for their redevelopment project. Any artsy/cultural alternatives to suggest?

A belated report on our Oct. 9 visit ...

Excellent wings at Gabriel's Gate - meaty, juicy, delicious. Efficient, friendly service. Tasty local IPA. Highly recommended.

A pleasant late afternoon stroll took us to Fountain Plaza, from where the southbound train to Key Bank is free.

Enjoyed beef on weck at the arena. Hopefully the Sabres' OT win sent the way-too-many hundreds of Canadiens' fans home miserable. The ride back to Fountain Plaza was a bit more ... ummm ... animated than on the way down.

Had an excellent light breakfast and coffee at a shop near our BnB, Caffeology. Stopped at Ted's Amherst location in time for an early hot dog lunch, completing our trifecta of local culinary favorites.

We thoroughly enjoyed our first, too brief, trip to Buffalo. I expect this will become a ritual when visiting relatives in TO during hockey season.

Im a Wny transplant living in the Carolinas since early 2000's. Taking my 17 year old son to his first game on the 27th (bruins). Can someone point me to the thread/page/post on parking near the arena? I'll be driving in from east of Buffalo/Geneseo area.

I wish I could help. I think it was discussed earlier in this thread. I always park on South Park for free but it's a bit of a walk to the arena. Might not be ideal if weather is nasty. Maybe others will chime in. Good luck and safe travels.

My favorite pizza joint of all time just closed. Leonardi's on Grover Cleveland in Amherst. Never to be tasted again.
Beloved Amherst pizzeria closes doors after nearly 50 years in business
Check out the reaction of the fan in the clip on that link...
Also one of my other faves closed down: The Lone Star Fajita Grill on Hertel. From a friend of mine who
still lives in Buffalo: "Cecelia’s closed on Elmwood and Pano’s reopened under new management and it is horrible.
The place is empty, it’s so weird. There were always lines to get into Plano’s, no more."

Can definitely back both of those things. And that Leonardi's video is pretty funny.

Hi everyone, mate and I coming from the UK for an ice hockey pilgrimage in February, will be in Buffalo 4-7th for two games

I'm sure it's been asked many times on here but up to date info always appreciated and if anyone wants to join us for a beer would be great!

Where should we go, what should we do apart from watch the games? Neither of us have been to Buffalo or much of the US and staying right near the KeyBank.

TIA

What are your interests? Are you looking for popular picks or something a little off the beaten path?

Both big fans of all sport, love a beer and all food! Wouldn't say after anything too cultural just fun things to get up to there, will most likely make sure we get over to Niagara at some point too. We are doing NY, PHI and DC prior to Buffalo and then on to Columbus so just trying to make the most of every little area (and 6 matches) that we can

Awesome. I’m doing that from New Zealand in early 2021. I’m really looking forward to it. I call it my hockey holiday.
I’ll be interested to hear your recommendations after the trip.

Good Morning, Buffalo Fans...................

Still here in Buffalo and heading to the Sabres/Jackets. Started my stay in Buffalo with the Sabres/Habs. So far have been to the Pearl Street Grill and Brewery, Allentown Street Poutine Company, The Draft Room and the hotel bar. LOL Also went to see the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugaral National Historic Sight and walked Allen Street. Meaningful to stand in the same room where a President was sworn into office after a tragic event.

Props to the folks at KeyBank Center. Could not get my "StubHub purchased" ticket to load on my phone. At a ticket entrance to the arena, instead of just telling me to go down to the box office they actually escorted me there. The box office folks were very nice and printed a ticket for me after verifying my information.

I judge places by just asking myself if I would go again. To Buffalo I say yes. There's more to explore here. The Buffalo and Erie County Naval and Military Park would really be of interest to me but it is closed for the season, understandably. There is a restuarant over there though that I hope to go to after today's game.

Also went to a Buffalo Bandits indoor lacrosse game. That was my first experience seeing lacrosse up close and personal. While the play on the field was exciting, the constant music was almost WWFish or something. But it was a great game.

Anyway........Buffalo looks to be going thru a revitalization. In a couple of years I'll conjecture there will be plenty more to do here. Overall, I have enjoyed my stay. If there is something "must do" that I am missing, please chime in as I am headed out of Buffalo on Monday. Thought about the Buffalo Riverworks. One thing I can't believe is that there is no snow on the ground except for the "plowed" piles. What is up with that? LOL

I ordered an online parking pass for the Perry St surface lot but there is no map or directions to indicate where the entrance for the parking lot is. Where exactly is the entrance for this lot ?

Hey all, I'm going to tomorrow nights game vs. The Leafs and it's been a few weeks since I purchased my parking pass... it says I'm in the 'SUFLOT'. From what I remember it was off of Perry street but that's all I know. Any help is much appreciated, thanks!

Hello Sabres fans,

I recently purchased tickets to a Sabres game this season and I was looking to make a mini trip out of it. Any recommendations for bars/restuarants/hotels/etc. to check out while there?

Thanks for any info!

Just recently moved near Hertel. I’m from Niagara County so I’m not super familiar with the area yet.

What’s the best bar to watch a Sabres game on Hertel?

Fantastic fishing around your city.
Lots of quiet spots for the day around Tonawanda Creek, Ellicott Creek, Erie Canal area, but the breeze out is getting cold. Make sure you have license, they do check on occasion.

No idea if Kellys Korner on Delaware north of Hertel shows the games, but that's probably where I'd check out first. Froth on Military might show games if you like craft beer.

I'd be just as happy bringing home a couple pounds of wings from one of the good local establishments and grabbing a few beer from Premier or one of the local breweries.

Question for any Canadian Sabres fans. How does it work these days to cross into Buffalo to watch a game? Do you need to have a negative COVID test to get into US and then back into Canada?
