In one sentence, what's wrong with this team?

Shanny hires Babs to an 8 year/$50M contract and then hires a GM that has a totally different vision than the coach. The buck stops at Shanny and he needs to do something or the 18 wheeler is going off the cliff in February.

Well said! You’ve hit the nail squarely on the head!

Babcock isnt the right coach for this team.

There is no way a group of 22 yr olds are this disengaged, and it shows on body language and not so cryptic media interviews.

Babcock doesnt know what hes doing. Hes out of his depth at creating morale and team chemistry. Hes clueless in player strengths and line deployment.

Need a goon.

No. We need players that will hold each other just as accountable as they will the other team. One of the benefits of having a guy who will drop the gloves on your team is that when he does he sets a level of accountability and honesty with his teammates, that if he's going to the mat for these guys and for the team then they better be going to the mat for each other too. Right now that's absent. We don't need a goon - no team does anymore. What we do need is players with more of a willingness to do that if that's what it takes. To skate through players instead of around them. We're probably the nicest team in the league. Which in itself is perplexing considering we're top-10 in PMs right now too.

Dubas believes that Toughness is a mirage

I'm just clinging onto the fact the roster is injury hit, and the times we've come out flying, we seem to tire later on.

So i'll take a slow burning season, with it all coming together when it matters.

Too much to ask?

The injury thing is BS. Tavares started the season and they still looked mediocre. If the amount of so called elite talent can't get without Hyman, then we should take a nuke to the team now and save the anguish of watching them struggle for the next five to seven years.

The back to back thing is the lamest of all excuses.

It's all sad. The GM stripped the team of any passion or identity.

I totally agree with you. Problem is, who would want him? He’s way overpaid! We’d probably have to include at the very least a 2nd round pick! I have absolutely no faith in Dubas! He thinks he’s way smarter than everybody else. SMH

Nylander only costs 5.5 million in real dollars. A team that has cap space could use him. It’s not that he is not talented but he seems think he can coast on his abilities rather than driving play. Until he realizes that he will be a meh player.

Regarding Dubas he has a lot to prove and if he is going to trade Nylander he has to at least come out even. We can’t have a PC Hall for Larsson type trade. He has proven woefully incompetent when it comes to dealing with our stars in negotiations. He does have a good eye for talented players but as many have said they are all the same. Can’t have a team of munchkins who are highly skilled. We need to also add some size and grit especially with the later rounds.

Personally I would welcome a top 10 pick (aware we traded it to Canes but with conditions) with major changes in the offseason.
