She was knowledgeable, passionate, and kind. This forum is so much poorer for her loss.
Really sucks. As a Penguins fan I often disagreed with her, but stuff like this shows how which team you "root" for doesn't really matter. We are all part of the hockey community, and that community was better with her in it. RIP
Terrible news, condolences to the family. Rest in peace.
I am so sad to hear of her passing. I only knew her by her posts here which were always classy thoughtful and respectful towards others.
I know we are all in agreement that we are damn glad she got to witness a Cup. Sports give us an alternate reality to get away from all the f***ed bullshit that happens far too often in the rest of our non sportsfandom lives. Including the obvious, our health.
I took a break from this board only to come back to this news. I'm shook right now!
Such a nice and passionate poster. And always confused me by changing her avatars so frequently ha ha.
Feels like a loss of a distant relative or a friend that you haven't seen in a decade.
R.I.P Sammy. This board will not be the same.
Condolences to her family and to the Caps fans group. I just found out about it. As a Pens fan I had my fair share of interactions with her. Absolutely tragic and goes to show you how hockey, for example, is just a sport and it doesn’t matter much in the grand scheme of things.
My first visit here in a very long time. Very unexpected and sad news. R.I.P.
I have not been around this page in a while and just saw this thread. Rest in Peace, Sam Spade. Glad you were able to see the Caps win the big one.
my favourite mod, super friendly and helpful. i don't know what to say, rest in peace
Oh jeez, after taking a hiatus due to the season being hung this is the last thing I wanted to log in to. And she had young kids? My deepest condolences to everyone who knew her and reads this. Incredibly sad.
My first time being here in quite a while. Ugh, what horrible news. She was an awesome contributor, I learned a lot from her posts. RIP to her and deepest condolences to her family.
OMG. This is absolutely terrible news.
I haven’t been to the boards in quite a while and just noticed this thread. It’s beyond sad. My condolences to her family...
Some older posters might remember another passionate hockey fan who has unfortunately succumbed to cancer as well 5 or 6 years ago - her user name was Octopi. I hope humanity will find a way to defeat late-stage cancers in the future.
Wtf? Im so sorry for your loss. We loved to hate each other but was always awesome banter. R.I.P. . Very sad to hear : (
Came to your Board to post in the 1st Round Series Thread & read this Thread Title with anticipated dread.
Sam was one of the Mods here who made a newer Member feel welcome with the ability to deliver a corrective suggestion in order to help a visitor “Read the Room”.
I really appreciated Sam’s sense of humour in her tactful replies to heated/emotional Posts.
As others have Posted, glad she was able to enjoy a Championship with her family & condolences to them and to the HF Caps community.
You’re a great group here. Again, to a newer Member you’ve made myself & others feel safe to visit and join in on your GDT’s. Sam was a big part of the culture/environment HF Caps currently reflects, IMHO.
RIP Sam Spade.
I had some really great interactions with Sam. I am so sad to read this. I hope her family sees this thread so they know how much of an impact she had.
Yeah, this. I haven't been by here in a while, saw the pinned thread title right away and got chills. Great poster and dedicated Caps fan... such a tragedy.
Hey all, talking in the Isles thread and someone mentioned this occurred. I just wanted to send my condolences. I don’t recall interacting a significant amount with her, but by all accounts she was a great poster and person.
My thoughts and prayers go out to all of her family, friends, and HF friends... and f*** cancer
Wow, what a tragedy. Condolence to her family. RIP Sam Spade, you'll be remembered. So sad.
Been out of the loop... This hurts bad...
Late to this, but RIP to the homie Sam, seemed like a very solid guy. Rest easy brother.
Solid gal*. Sam was a she.
Interacted with Sam myriad times and did not know that. Thanks for apprising me of that, and RIP to a very solid lady.
