Islanders are not getting anything close to kane for sorokin, can we just be realistic here?

Guy hasn't played a lick of NA ice hockey, he isn't going to command one of the best players in the league while he's still a foreign prospect

Kane

Barzal
Sorokin
Dobson

Would still rather keep Kane though. His play style should age well.

As ludicrous as it is to think Sorokin would warrant or return Kane, it's just as ludicrous to keep reading the narrative that "KHL goaltenders in their mid 20's that haven't played in North America have no value".

If anything, right now it's the complete opposite. Shesterkin and Samsonov almost immediately stepped into the NHL (or with minimal time in the A) and showing that they're already more competent in the net than a majority of the NHL goaltenders.

This would be a "sell high" time to maximize the return. That being said, it would be complete idiocy on LL's part to trade him. The team has no goaltenders of any note in the system that can replace Varlamov if he goes down (and he does have an injury history). Considering the Isles system is predicated on strong goaltending and strong D they need depth at both places.

Nobody said he would. It's just that for the Isles to consider moving Sorokin when it's near 100 percent he's coming over next year, that's something in the neighborhood of what the ask would be -- in other words a massive overpayment. If it even got that far, Chicago almost certainly said no, and that was that. Someone in Russia got wind of the Blackhawks supposed interest and tweeted it. The one guy in Russia who actually knows something immediately tweeted that he'd heard the opposite, and that no trade was happening. Nothing to see here, other than Dreger is an idiot, and no need for anyone to get their shorts in a knot over something that was never going to happen.

sorokin has a better chance to be traded for future considerations than kane

i hope whoever started that nonsense gets ridiculed until this thread gets closed.

Kane isn't a massive overpayment. Kane is a fantasy ask.

Kane isn't going anywhere because no team could afford or willing to give up what it would take to get him.

Not saying Chicago should trade Kane but unless they envision themselves winning the cup int he next 5 years, it's not out of the question to tear down and rebuild. My guess though is business wins out and say even though Chicago won't be that productive the next few years Kane will put more asses in the seats and make it easier to push TV and radio deals.

I get that this trade didn't happen, but why on earth would NYI trade Sorokin now? Isn't he meant to be a great goalie prospect?
