Groin strains for the most parts aren't too bad. You can still run and exercise and do all kinds of stuff.
The problem starts when you need to stretch out those legs sideways or just really anything else except a simple running motion.
For a goalie an injury like that is impossible to play through. MAYBE if you are a standup style goalie but those are gone. Forget being a butterfly style goalie trying to do the splits.

From my experience with similar injuries, he's currently on the phone with his insurance provider arguing about whether they'll cover the MRI, and what his deductible is and what he's spent so far this year. That's definitely the delay
And is the painkiller going to be brand name or generic? If the former, he’s going to need a letter from the specialist, which would take a while. And then that needs to get processed by how many departments and the pharmacy? Yay healthcare!

Wherever I'm standing atm
This dude needs a daily regimen of Bloodsport-esque training where he can just do full splits at the drop of a hat bc he had his legs stretched by rope pulleys and shit. Get Jean Claude van Damme on line one...wait...that movie was pure fiction based on a delusional bullshit artist with a history of stolen Valor.

Igor is doomed

Great to read that it’s not nearly as serious as it looked.

Groins are still really tricky for G, so monitor it wisely. This season is about growth anywho. Last thing we need is to make it more serious.

I had a second degree hamstring strain several weeks ago trying to do a split (kids: dancing to Billie Jean in your 30s while drunk is not the same as in your teens while sober). Swore I had torn everything in my leg. Writhing with pain at first. Couldn’t put weight on it. A few hours later I managed to walk hone. The next day I iced it and took Advil. I’m still feeling the effects and can barely squat but certainly improving each day. And this is just with home rest: no doctors and no PT.
Good for you, tough to do but well done, I would know. Dont wanna bore anyone, but here goes.
Was repairing a Samsung TV flipped over on my bed. Reached to unscrew a screw and knee bent unnaturally, pulled a calf muscle, MAJOR HEAT climbing up and down the back of my leg. This was 2 days after having carpal tunnel surgery for the 2nd time. So, my hand was incapacitated as well. Literally crawled to get ice and somehow got through it after 3 days of hobbling and babying the shit out of it. Sucked.

put on IR to open a roster spot for panarin...has already been out for 7 days so he can come back whenever he's ready
Going to ass-u-me that he may not be seen until sometime this weekend. Maybe on Saturday. They are going to ensure that he heals properly. Or so I believe.

As a person with experience on groin strains as a goalie, its not actually so bad when doing the splits but when you're trying to collect your legs back from the splits is the part that's really gonna hurt. Same goes for butterfly where if you have a groin strain its really hard to keep the package tight because pushing your thighs together to close the five-hole puts a lot of strain on groins.

Splits and failed lateral movements due to dull skates or just a bad angle for the push are the moves that often pull your groin, but splits itself pain-wise aren't as bad as basic butterfly movements when the strain is on.

Day to Day turns to Week to Week as I predicted when they came out and said it was only "Day to Day".

Be shocked if he's back before April.
