The NHLPA is not a Union. A Union negociates contracts for it's members. The NHLPA is an Association of people who work in the same industry. If they want to be a union then we can get rid of all the player agents and the Union can negociate the salaries of each player as a collective based solely on years of service.

The "so-called" scrubs wouldn't see the hit as part of the NHL's rollback, but it would be much worse for them, as their deals when expired would get slashed by 50% or more.

Care to point out where in the NHL's offer this sort of rollback is possible? There isn't any details under the qualifying offer section. And it's extremely unlikely that the PA would accept such a low number. I think at *best* the NHL would get a 75% qualifying offer option.

And of course, it's a free world. The player isn't forced to accept that offer, even it is that low. If he's worth more, he can demand more and will get it.

And if a scrub did accept a 50% pay cut, then *by definition*, that's exactly what he's worth.
