Redo of 1st 2 rnds of 2006 draft...

I'm working on one myself & will post soon...anyone wanna take a shot 7 mths after the draft has taken place? Even in a relatively short amount a time post-draft, some players have definitely seen their stock rise & we've seen sleepers from various rounds...True, it'll be most likely 2-3 yrs or longer to see who the true gems of the draft are, but based on what we know now, I'd like to see what u guys think..

Cheers

The Blues would not take any player other than EJ if the draft were to be redone.
If you have Staal or Toews ahead of him....you're wrong. :teach:

How does Backstrom drop after the season he's having?

I assume he'll tell you that Backstrom didn't fall in stock, others just rose more. But I do agree that it seems hard to imagine someone having a good WJC, or a good year in the WHL is enough to pass someone who is dominating an adult professional league like Backstrom is in the SEL.

1.Why Backstrom dropped to 6 when he's having absolutely fantastik season in European TOP League. What Staal, Toews, and espescially Kessal and Mueller had done to be picked ahead of him?
2.Why did Grabner dropped to 27 while he scored 19 goals in 27 games?
3.Why did Berglund dropped to 28 when he already made 37 points in 24 games in adult league?

I think that would be a fascinating dilemma. I think you're probably right, but would JD have the balls to turn down a player like Jordan Staal after seeing what he's done as an 18 year old in the NHL?

1.Personal choice, the top 7 has been the most difficult part for me to do.
2.Unidimensionnal player.Only 8 assists in 27 games and fifth in his team for points.
3.Did not impress me at all at the WJC...

Ok, but why did he even lossed his spot to Mueller? Mueller had even less points than Backtrom at WJC.
It's your right to make the list you want, but I just can't understand how Backstrom can drop out of TOP 5 dominating in SEL. None of the guys ahead of him has done clearly better than Backstrom.

2.Unidimensionnal player.Only 8 assists in 27 games and fifth in his team for points.
Well he always was a sniper. Like Bure. And about 5 in points, he was injured. He played 27 games instead of 40.

3.Did not impress me at all at the WJC...
And this guys seems to impress you:
Okposo, Little, Lewis.

Berglund is 18. And he's playing great in Alvenskan. Best PPG in the league. He has done nothing to drop from his draft position.

Seems that you pay too much attention to WJC.

And where is Helenius?:dunno:

Maybe people should stop ripping scuba-steve and post their own list if they seem to know more about it than he does. But for what's it's worth I wouldn't change the top 7 or 8 picks from the 06 draft just yet.

Simply because i prefer Mueller to Backstrom. He have teriffic playmaking abitlities and he's a great 2-way player.Backstrom could/should end up being the best of 2,but at this time i prefer Mueller

Ok with the sniper thing but a 19 years old player who makes barely the PPG in the WHL is not good at all...

I maybe pay too much attention to WJC in his case, but the WJC was the only chance for me to evaluated him.I'm maybe wrong with this call...

I've heard that he sees very little minutes playing behind Rask, and he's been injured.

It's been a while since the draft, but last time I checked, the Ducks had the 19th pick that year...

What about almost a goal-a-game in the WHL? Not good at all? What about still being a favourite to win the goalscoring title in the league, albeit missing 13 games, and playing the first half of the season with a bad hip? Still not good at all?

This is a joke thread. Backstrom does NOT drop after his season in SEL.

I *very* seriously doubt Davidson overrules Jarmo Kekalainen (the Blues assistant GM and head of amateur scouting) on who to pick, and I guarantee Kekalainen (the guy who's been in charge of the draft since being hired by the team) would still take Johnson over Staal right now.
