If Ovechkin went to the Pittsburgh Penguins

No? IMO, it will. At least crazy media attention.

They would be the contender to beat, but it's just not as much of a certainty because there are more variables in play.

For instance, what if Murray takes a step back and they suddenly can't push past the 2nd round? Ovechkin certainly would help if they could afford him without compromising depth, but he can't really solve any issues that might arise elsewhere on the ice.

It's not as pathetic because it takes more than 3 players to win in the NHL.

As a Pens fan, I'd be concerned if he ever became a Penguin. Ovechkin is allergic to the Stanley Cup and causes a team allergic reaction too. If he became a Penguin I'd know that as long as he was on the team, my Pens wouldn't win another Cup.

Well he'd need to take a salary cut.

Like every mean spirited Pens fan, I'd do it simply for the looks on Caps fans faces.
