If Latendresse was available for WJs?

If Latendresse had been made available for the World junior Championship training camp would he have made the team, and if so what would his role have been?

I don't think Lats' game is suited to the big ice. He could have helped this team, no doubt, but he's kind of in the mould of a Jason Allison or Glen Murray -- neither of whom ever had serious consideration for the Olympic teams.

On a different note, why the big Lats love/hate fetish here? He's having a good rookie season and looks to have a long, above-average career ahead of him. Good on the kid. But I don't know why he keeps popping up in so many threads.

Cause when you are a MON player and MTL having a huge fanbase on HF, you are going to get mentioned in a lot of threads.

Personally I not only believe Crosby would have made the team but he would have played on the first line. He certainly has the talent to do so.

:biglaugh:

man you crack me up with your obvious posts that you think are informative to us.

I also remember the time right before this season when you stated,

"Ovechkin has the talent to be on the top 2 lines in Washington this season"

I am amazed to see so many as a quarter of people vote he would not have even made the team, and only half vote him to be a top line/main PP guy. It just shows how underrated he is, he would have been probably the best Canadian forward, or atleast top 3 unless the coach had huge bias and hatred for him like was last year.

Team Canada would be worse off with Guillaume on it. I wouldn't take him even if he were available.

Ahh thats what happens when somebody starts a Habs player thread in one of the main forums, especially regarding Lats whose name is popping up left and right...your just asking for the haters to come out and as a result you get a post like this. BTW, if your gonna say something really confrontational like this "Lime" at least back up your argument unless all your doing is trying to stir the pot for no reason other then to get under Habs fans' skins...

Who would have been left off had Latendresse had been available? Team Canada would have had to change their whole scheme of play to accomodate having Latendresse.

Do you leave of a grinder? (Cliche, Betram) Do you leave off a PP specialist? (Ganger) Or how about some speedsters? (Helm, Cogliano)

I'm sorry Hab fans but Guillaume is not the type of character that, IN MY OPINION, would fit well on a team like the Canadian juniors.

Personally, I wouldn't take him.

Are you suggesting keeping Ganger or Helm would have been a priority over having Latendresse play that role instead of one of the likes of those 2. :biglaugh:

No, all I'm stating is that you have to look at the team we have, the roles the players are playing and you start to wonder who should be left off.

Also you have to wonder about team chemistry. Would Latendresse enchanched the chemistery or decreased it?

I just can not believe how Crosby is still eligible for this tournament, he is in the nhl ****** the opposition and making veterns look silly.

oh Latendresse... yah he's pretty good too.

Canada's under 20 talent is so amazing.

You are talking as if he came in at the last minute. Obviously if he were made available he would have been at the selection camp like everyone else. Somebody else who had a certain role would no longer have had that role in the first place since an NHL calibre forward was there and would be given it instead of them, and they either find a role someplace else bumping somebody else off the team, or they themselves dont make it at all.

Latendresse would not have been able to score that goal that Helm did against EJ btw. Idk, his name is kind of soft, you don't want to be sending the wrong message to the other teams by having someone named Latendresse on your team. You want someone with the name like LaPierre or umm, something tough sounding, idk. Say his name was Maxime LaChampion then he'd probably make the team.

If made available, Latendresse would have made the team without a doubt because he is a returnee from last year's team. That being said, I think if Montreal made him available, he certainly should have been there over one of Gagner, McArdle, Helm, Little, etc.
